It’s been quite the week for two of the biggest music stars. The release of Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” album on 21 Oct. has already broken the Spotify record for the most-streamed album in a day, while Adele dropped her new video on 26 Oct. for “I Drink Wine”. But don’t for a second think the singing superstars are in competition, instead Adele has paid homage to Swift’s talents.
“I think Taylor’s one of the greatest songwriters of our generation,” she said at “Happy Hour with Adele”, a fan event celebrating the release of her music video this week. Although, when asked if she’d listened to Swift’s album yet, Adele did admit she hasn’t yet had a chance. “I haven’t, but the only reason is because I’ve been in rehearsals for, like, 12 hours a f*cking day. I’m sick and tired of anything musical.”
The rehearsals are thought to be for her upcoming Las Vegas residency which is due to start on 18 Nov. and run through to March 2023, having previously been postponed due to disputes over the production. Adele went on to say, “I will definitely give it a listen. I loved the two in Covid very, very much, and I think she’s fun, she makes a release fun!” The two albums she references are “Folklore” and “Evermore” which Swift released during the pandemic, while Swift revealed the tracklist for “Midnights” via a TikTok game, so her album release has definitely been fun.
Incredible songwriting, storytelling videos, and powerful vocals are just a few of the things these two stars have in common. Could an Adele-Swift collab be written in the stars? Here’s hoping.
