16 Actors Who’ve Starred in the Most Netflix Movies and TV Shows
The very first Netflix original was 2012’s “Lilyhammer,” a crime series that ran for three seasons. The streamer has followed it up with seemingly endless exclusive content, from hit TV series like “Stranger Things” and “Orange Is the New Black” to fan-favorite movies like “To All the Boys I Loved Before” and “Do Revenge.” There are Emmy-winning series like “Ozark” and beloved new romantic comedies like “Always Be My Maybe.” It’s also tapped major movie stars to appear in its films, like Henry Cavill, Ryan Gosling, Jennifer Garner, and more.
Through it all, the streamer has definitely found some actors it loves working with most of all. There’s Adam Sandler, who’s already starred in eight Netflix original movies and has two more on the way. There’s Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, and Madeleine Arthur, who turned their roles in the To All the Boys series into thriving careers. And there’s Millie Bobby Brown, who won over fans as Eleven on “Stranger Things” and continues to star in exciting new movies for the streamer.
Ahead, we’re rounding up the stars who’ve appeared in the most Netflix originals, including movies, TV shows, and TV specials. To make the list, an actor had to appear in at least three Netflix projects.
Adam Sandler: 10 Netflix Original Movies
Adam Sandler is by far the person with the most Netflix original movies or shows. The actor has starred in eight movies for the streamer, with two more on the way. There’s 2015’s “The Ridiculous 6,” 2016’s “The Do-Over,” 2017’s “Sandy Wexler,” 2017’s “The Meyerowitz Stories,” 2018’s “The Week Of,” 2019’s “Murder Mystery,” 2020’s “Hubie Halloween,” and 2022’s “Hustle.” Sandler’s ninth Netflix movie, “Murder Mystery 2,” will be released in 2023; he stars in both of the “Murder Mystery” movies with Jennifer Aniston. He’s also producing and starring in “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” for the streamer, alongside his family. Sandler first signed a deal with Netflix way back in 2014, and he signed another four-movie deal in 2020, so you can expect to see the comedian on the streamer for a long time to come.
Noah Centineo: 5 Netflix Original Movies and 1 TV Series
Legions of fans fell for Noah Centineo as Peter Kavinsky in the three “To All the Boys” films, so Netflix wasted no time putting him in more projects. In 2018, he starred in “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” alongside “Stranger Things” star Shannon Purser. In 2019, he was the lead in another teen rom-com, “The Perfect Date.” In December’s “The Recruit,” a TV series about a CIA lawyer (Centineo) who gets caught in a twisting spy drama, fans will see a new side of him.
John Mulaney: 6 Netflix Original TV Shows and Specials
John Mulaney stars alongside Kroll in “The Oh, Hello Show” and also voices characters on “Big Mouth” (and made a guest appearance in “Human Resources”). He also premiered his children’s musical comedy special “John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch” in 2019. He also has more traditional Netflix standup specials like “The Comeback Kid” in 2015 and “Kid Gorgeous” in 2018.
Millie Bobby Brown: 4 Netflix Original Movies and 1 TV Show
Millie Bobby Brown broke out on “Stranger Things” as Eleven when the show premiered in 2016. She’s starred in all four seasons of the show and will return for the fifth and final season. Then in 2020 she starred in the first “Enola Holmes” film as the titular detective, the sister of Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). She followed that up with 2022’s “Enola Holmes 2.” But Brown’s relationship with the streamer will continue to grow. In 2024, she’ll star in the 2024 science-fiction movie “The Electric State,” directed by the Russo Brothers. She also stars in the upcoming film “Damsel” alongside Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright.
Lana Condor: 3 Netflix Original Movies and 2 TV Shows
Lana Condor burst on to the scene as Lara Jean in the “To All the Boys” series of films. There was the first movie, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” in 2018, which was followed by 2020’s “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You,” and 2021’s “To All the Boys: Always and Forever.” Condor also lent her voice talents to two episodes of “BoJack Horseman” in 2019. But Condor made her biggest debut on the TV side in 2022’s series “Boo, B*tch,” where she played a high schooler who dies during a night out on the town and has to take care of her final business as a ghost. It also seems likely she’ll at least cameo in the “To All The Boys” spin-off “XO, Kitty.”
Madeleine Arthur: 3 Netflix Original Movies and 2 TV Shows
Madeleine Arthur first broke out in the “To All the Boys” series of films as the best friend of Lana Condor’s Lara Jean Covey. Christine is a free spirit and appears in all three movies supporting her friend. Many of Arthur’s costars from that movie also made this list, which isn’t a surprise since the films, released from 2018 to 2021, were major hits. Then in September 2022, Arthur appeared in the Netflix series “Devil in Ohio” alongside Emily Deschanel. Arthur also appears as Hannah in the “Blockbuster” series, a friendly and quirky young woman who works at the store and forges friendships with her coworkers.
Tyler Alvarez: 4 Netflix Original TV Shows
Tyler Alvarez started his Netflix journey with a role as Benny Mendoza, the son of Gloria (Selenis Leyva), on “Orange Is the New Black.” He then starred as the fake documentarian Peter Maldonado in the two seasons of the cult hit comedy “American Vandal.” Though fans were outraged when Netflix didn’t renew the show, that didn’t end Alvarez’s journey with the streamer. Alvarez appears in season two of “Never Have I Ever” as Malcolm, who ends up dating Eleanor (Ramona Young). Then, Alvarez joined the cast of 2022’s “Blockbuster” as aspiring filmmaker Carlos – a role not so different from “American Vandal”‘s Peter.
Ryan Reynolds: 3 Netflix Original Movies
Ryan Reynolds has starred in three original movies for the streamer. First, he appeared in 2019’s “6 Underground” alongside Mélanie Laurent, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Adria Arjona, Corey Hawkins, Ben Hardy and Dave Franco. The action thriller is directed by Michael Bay. In 2021, he teamed up with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot for “Red Notice,” which Netflix said was its fifth-most streamed movie of the year. Then in 2022, he starred in the film “The Adam Project” with Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner. Reynolds plays the titular Adam, and Walker Scobell and Isaiah Haegert play younger versions of the same character.
Henry Cavill: 2 Netflix Original Movies and 1 TV Show
Henry Cavill stars as the famous detective Sherlock Holmes in the two “Enola Holmes” films alongside Brown. He also plays the title character in the series “The Witcher.” However, he announced in October that he’ll be leaving “The Witcher” after the third season premieres.
Randall Park: 1 Netflix Original Movie and 2 TV Shows
Randall Park broke out in a major way in the 2019 romantic comedy “Always Be My Maybe.” In the film, he stars alongside Ali Wong. The movie also has a very memorable Keanu Reeves cameo. Park also voices Pete in the Netflix adult animated comedy “Human Resources” alongside Aidy Bryant, Keke Palmer, and Maya Rudolph. The comedy is set in the world of “Big Mouth.” Park has added a third project to his resume with “Blockbuster.” In the comedy, he stars a Timmy, the owner of the last “Blockbuster” standing. He tries his best to keep the video store running despite the odds against him.
Maya Hawke: 2 Netflix Original Movies and 1 TV Show
Maya Hawke got on most people’s radars when she appeared in season three of “Stranger Things” as Robin, the coworker of Steve (Joe Keery) who becomes his close friend. In 2021, she also appeared in Netflix’s “Fear Street” series of films. In “Fear Street Part One: 1994,” Hawke plays Heather, who’s killed in the movie’s opening moments. In Sept. 2022, Hawke starred in “Do Revenge” alongside Camila Mendes. In the movie, Hawke plays Eleanor, a teenage girl who’s bent on getting revenge on the girl who outed her as a lesbian when they were kids.
Camila Mendes: 3 Netflix Original Movies
Camila Mendes stars alongside Hawke in “Do Revenge” as Drea, the teenage girl Hawke’s Eleanor teams up with for her revenge plot. “Do Revenge” was actually Mendes’s third Netflix original. She appears in the 2019 teen rom-com “The Perfect Date” as the snobby Shelby. And in 2020 she starred in “Dangerous Lies,” a psychological thriller. The movie also stars Jessie T. Usher, Jamie Chung, Cam Gigandet, Sasha Alexander, and Elliott Gould.
Mendes also plays Veronica on “Riverdale,” but despite the fact that scores of fans watch it on Netflix, it’s not actually a Netflix original.
Julia Garner: 3 Netflix Original TV Series
Julia Garner quickly became a fan favorite as Ruth on “Ozark.” The series premiered in 2017. The actor also stars alongside Emma Stone in “Maniac,” a limited series that premiered on Netflix in 2018. The show also features Jonah Hill, Justin Theroux, and “House of the Dragon”‘s Sonoya Mizuno. In 2022, Garner played Anna Delvey, aka Anna Sorokin, in “Inventing Anna,” a limited series by Shonda Rhimes.
Priah Ferguson: 1 Netflix Original Movie and 2 TV Shows
Audiences first fell for Priah Ferguson in the second season of “Stranger Things,” where she plays Erica, the younger sister of Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). Her role has grown in every season since, and she’ll be back for the show’s finale soon. This October, she also starred in “The Curse of Bridge Hollow” for the streamer. Soon, she’ll also appear in Netflix’s animated series “My Dad the Bounty Hunter,” which is expected in 2023. The voice cast also includes Laz Alonso, Yvonne Orji, Yvette Nicole Brown, JeCobi Swain, Leslie Uggams, Rob Riggle, and Jim Rash.
Nick Kroll: 3 Netflix Original TV Shows and Specials
Comedian Nick Kroll joined the Neflix family in 2017 with two very different TV projects. In the TV special “The Oh, Hello Show,” he and John Mulaney play fictional old men (and best friends). That’s also the year the first season of the animated series “Big Mouth” was released. Kroll voices various characters on the show and also co-created the series. He also voices various characters on Netflix’s “Human Resources,” the 2022 series that spins off from “Big Mouth.”
Charles Dance: 1 Netflix Original Movie and 2 TV Shows
Fans might best know Charles Dance for his role as Tywin Lannister on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” but he’s a Netflix regular, too. He appeared on “The Crown” in seasons three and four as Lord Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s uncle. Earlier this year, he reunited with his “Game of Thrones” costar Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in the film “Against the Ice.” and In August he appeared in the first episode of “The Sandman” as Roderick Burgess, the wannabe magician who sets the events of the series into motion.
