Fresh off the second season of “Euphoria,” Sydney Sweeney has ditched her signature blond hair colour for a coppery red. On Tuesday, the actor shared a first look at her character in the upcoming film “National Anthem,” a curly redhead with brow-grazing bangs and light freckles. Sweeney is starring as Penny Jo Poplin in the project alongside Halsey, who’s making their acting debut.
While out in California the same day, she was spotted with strawberry blond hair and what looked to be curtain bangs, suggesting her latest beauty change is here to stay. Since Sweeney entered the scene a few years ago, this is the first time we’ve seen such a dramatic transformation from the actor. But while we may know Sweeney as a resident blonde, her natural hair color is actually dark brown, which she sported in the early days of her acting career.
Red hair has certainly been a popular choice for many celebrities as of late. Kendall Jenner dyed her hair a similar warm, coppery hue for the Prada show during Milan Fashion Week just a few days ago, while Sweeney’s “Euphoria” costars Zendaya and Barbie Ferreira also went red back in December. The major hair-colour trend took off at the start of 2021 and has yet to slow down since.
