Salma Hayek is channeling vintage Hollywood glamour. Celebrating the opening of the new Gucci store in New York City on April 29, the actor debuted a new hairstyle – a wavy bob haircut just above her shoulders – inspired by Jackie Kennedy’s iconic bouffant. While it’s unclear whether Hayek recently chopped her signature long length or was wearing a wig for the event, the style is the shortest we’ve seen her hair in years.
Her nostalgic look was created by hairstylist Jennifer Yepez, who created another retro style, ’70s-inspired “disco curls” for Blake Lively, just a few days prior. Yepez gave Hayek’s shorter length a deep side part with voluminous waves, a modernized take on the exaggerated, rounded shape made famous by Jackie O. Hayek’s glamorous hairstyle perfectly complemented her classic tweed jacket and skirt set from Gucci for the event.
Earlier in the week at the Time100 Gala, Hayek was spotted with relaxed, shoulder-length hair, which has been her go-to hairstyle over the years. While she’s experimented with different curls and highlights in the past, the bob is a big change for the actor. She was last seen sporting a blond lob in 2017, though it turned out to a very convincing wig.
