It Doesn’t Get Much Better Than the Met Gala Afterparty Glam
To us beauty lovers, the first Monday in May means only one thing: the Met Gala. This May 1, 2023, the biggest stars in Hollywood and beyond gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the extraordinary night, hosted by Anna Wintour, in looks centered around this year’s theme: “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” after the late designer. And you better believe: the hair, makeup, and nail moments were some of the most out-of-the-box we’ve seen yet. There was Florence Pugh’s buzz cut (!), Lil Nas X’s full-body makeup, and plenty of fun french manicures.
Still, that was only the beginning. While this year’s white carpet is one of the best places to spy jaw-dropping hair and makeup, the after parties proved even better for glam. This year, we spotted Lizzo‘s wig change from brunette to blond, Kendall Jenner’s “supermodel” nails, and Janelle Monae’s sculptural updo, just to name a few – and the looks were so stunning we immediately added them to our Pinterest boards.
Keep scrolling to see some of our favorite beauty looks from the Met Gala after parties.
Jenna Ortega's Curtain Bangs
The “Wednesday” star kept her hair and makeup similar to the white carpet, attending an afterparty at The Standard with messy curtain bangs and a bold cat-eye.
Lizzo's Blond Wig
Lizzo stepped out with a bold hair change for the evening: a platinum blond wig. As a refresher, the singer’s hairstyle for the Met Gala featured micro bangs and a sky-high updo.
Marion Cotillard's Pink Bowl Cut
Of course Cotillard kept her baby pink bowl cut in tact for all the afterparty festivities – it helps bring the good vibes.
Janelle Monae's Sculptural Ponytail
There wasn’t a beauty detail missed in Monae’s afterparty beauty look: the structural updo, the stark white “siren” eyes, and the black-and-white 3D nails – it doesn’t get much better.
Keke Palmer's Barbie Flip Hairstyle
Margot Robbie may have also been attendance at the 2023 Met Gala, but it was Palmer who brought the Barbie beauty vibes to the afterparty.
Billie Eilish's "Siren Eyes"
“Siren” eyes were all over the Met Gala red carpet, but it turns out the makeup trend was also in attendance at the afterparty, as evidenced by Billie Eilish.
Whitney Peak's Floating Eyeliner
Peak kept the chic vibes alive all the way through the afterparty, thanks to her Audrey Hepburn-inspired hairstyle and delicate floating eyeliner.
