Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has a brand-new look. On Aug. 9, the actor graced the September cover of Elle Canada, revealing short, wispy bangs for the very first time. She wore the look with an equally ethereal white Ferragamo gown, channeling the effortless style of old Hollywood stars like Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot. But even dressed in designer couture, her bangs still managed to steal the shot. She also debuted a haircut that completely transformed her previously waist-length waves into a much softer style, with new layers falling just below her shoulders.
“Growing up seeing @ellecanada everywhere to being on the cover,” Ramakrishnan captioned her cover photo on Instagram. “This shoot was an absolute dream and so was everyone involved.” Styled by beauty director Andrew Ly, Ramakrishnan’s bangs matched the whimsical aesthetic of the shoot perfectly, sweeping right beneath her eyebrows with plenty of texture and additional face-framing pieces.
Wispy bangs like these are a great option for anyone who wants to switch things up without going too choppy or blunt. “They’re super light, airy, and fresh,” celebrity hairstylist Sophie Sugarman previously told POPSUGAR (and Ramakrishnan is the living proof). “It’s the perfect style to try if you don’t want to fully commit to blunt bangs but want to add softness, texture, and beautiful shape around the face.” Other celebrities who have given wispy bangs a try include Cara Delevigne, whose side-swept fringe looked characteristically edgy, and Becky G, who put a wispy spin on the trendy Birkin bangs. Read on to see how Ramakrishnan put her own angelic spin on wispy bangs for the cover of Elle Canada.
