Lukas Gage and Chris Appleton’s love is now etched in permanent ink. The actor and celebrity hairstylist got matching tattoos shortly after tying the knot at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas last month. They both had “4.22” inked on their left ankle in tiny handwritten script as a reference to April 22, their wedding date. Tattoo artist Kate McDuffie was on hand to execute the dainty design amid the post-nuptial celebrations, which were attended by Kim Kardashian and Shania Twain, among others.
Both Gage and Appleton already had several tattoos each before their latest addition. As we saw in that scene from “The White Lotus” season one, Gage has a large design trailing down the left side of his torso (yes, it’s real, and the show’s makeup department chose to forego covering it up). The actor also has three small T’s that stand for “time to trust” near his toes and the acronym WIEWO (“what if everything works out?”) on the outer edge of his left foot. Appleton has several tats of his own, including one on his wrist and one near his right hip, the latter of which was on display in recent photos of his and Gage’s vacation in the Bahamas.
It seems newlywed tattoos are very much a trend among celebrity couples these days. After getting married last month, Simone Biles revealed that she and husband Jonathan Owens got matching “444” tattoos that stand for “4better, 4worse, 4ever.” Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas also both have checkbox tattoos that reference Jonas’s marriage proposal speech. Other famous pairs with coordinating ink include Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
