HoYeon Jung’s hair at the 2022 Academy Museum Gala was the perfect reminder that fun, elevated styles don’t have to be complicated. The model and actor stepped out for the event at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Oct. 15 with face-framing baby braids courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho. The Y2K beauty look featured a traditional middle part, with two thin braids on each side of her face. Much like the rest of Cho’s work – which can be seen on everyone from Ana De Armas, Jennifer Lawrence, and more – Jung’s hair was simple yet flattering.
The “Squid Game” star’s long hair looked glossy and natural aside from the two braided pieces that framed her face, which helped add little texture to the straight style that fell right below her shoulders. Jung is far from the first star to try out the baby braid hair trend; Hailey Beiber, Charli D’Amelio, and Bella Hadid have also worn the style.
If you want to get in on the look, it’s easy to recreate baby braids at home. The key is all about adding accessories. “Colored elastics are a great way to add some dimension with pops of color to your hair look and can be done in an easy couple of minutes,” celebrity hairstylist Laura Polko previously told POPSUGAR. Hairstylist Nate Rosenkranz added: “Butterfly and mini claw clips are back in a big way. These little clips pack a big punch.”
But as Jung perfectly demonstrated, this look also looks great on its own. Keep scrolling for more pictures of this Y2K perfection.
