Fenty Beauty Is Launching a Fragrance and All Signs Point to It Smelling Just Like Rihanna
Fenty Beauty is entering the world of fragrance with the release of Fenty Eau de Parfum. While Rihanna has previously released a number of perfumes under her own name, this is the first scent offering from her company, Fenty Beauty, which has previously focused on its makeup and skincare products.
Encased in a glass brown bottle, Fenty Beauty describes the scent as “raw, sensual, spicy and sweet all at once”. The fragrance is unisex and includes notes of magnolia, tangerine and blueberry as well earthy scents of musk and patchouli to create an interesting and complex aroma.
The packaging choice was just as considered, with Rihanna having a hand in the design. According to The Cut, it took her an hour and a half to pick the style of the cap for the bottle, while the colour choice was an equally personal choice. “I wanted a rich colour that really represented all genders from across all walks of life,” Rihanna said in a press release.
“Brown is my favourite colour. Brown is who I am. Brown is what I come from. If I’m going to make a fragrance that represents me, even the body language of the bottle needs to marry that. So, I wanted something brown, but also transparent — so you could see the liquid and the fragrance you’re about to experience.”
Rihanna personally worked on the scent with Jacques Cvallier Belletrud, the master perfumer for Louis Vuitton. Belletrud told The Cut that the fragrance is “simple in terms of construction, with fantastic ingredients” but unlike other fragrances, is as robust upon first smell as it is after it dries.
While we might never know what Rihanna smells like, it’s safe to say that this is as close as we’re going to get. The Fenty Eau de Parfum (US $120) will be available from August 10 via the Fenty Beauty website. You can also sign up for exclusive pre-launch early access here. Consider us sold.
