We love to amp up the glow whenever we can with our makeup and the easiest way to do this is with a highlighter. Highlighting products are incredibly versatile, as they can be used across the face and also come in many different formulas from liquid to powder and cream.
If you’re after a new highlighter or simply wanted to take a look in the POPSUGAR editors makeup bag, now is your time! We asked our editors what their favourite highlighting products are and spoiler alert: the highlighting cream stick is by far the favourite style of product in the team.
Amanda, Publisher: Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick ($68)
This light, translucent illuminator is easy to apply (for a makeup novice like me). I love that it’s in stick form so I can swipe it along my lids/cheekbones and be done in two seconds.
Sangeeta, Lifestyle Editor: Basics By B Face Palette 2.0 ($60)
I love this ‘Uluwatu’ highlighter in this Basics By B palette. It complements the ‘Crete’ bronzer perfectly and instantly makes me look more awake. The entire palette is great for someone with a darker skin tone like me.
Valentina, Managing Editor: Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight ($45)
There’s no way you can muck up application with the Clinique Chubby Stick. I swipe it on the top of my cheekbones, brow bones, Cupid’s Bow and on the tip of my nose and it’s easy to rub in with your fingers. No makeup brushes needed! I like that it’s a cream consistency which makes it easy to use and gives a glow but doesn’t look shimmery. It’s buildable too and easy to throw in your bag for touch-ups.
Natasha, Food & Drink Producer: Urban Decay Afterglow Palette ($42)
This was the first highlighter I bought, four years ago. My college roommate chose it for me because I suck at makeup and I love it. I’m running out now though, but I love the pigment and in summer, my skin gets dark, so I need a highlighter that can really shine. The colours match my skin tone perfectly.
Alexandra, Beauty & Wellness Editor: Fenty Beauty Match Stix Glow Skinstick ($39)
I’m a sucker for a cream highlighter and I always come back to this one by Fenty Beauty in the shade ‘Purrrl’. This product imparts a glowy sheen to the skin and doesn’t make my foundation move around when applied. The stick also makes the product super easy to use and the compact nature means it’s the perfect product to take travelling and I don’t have to worry about it breaking (like you do with a powder highlighter).
