Claw Clips Never Worked on My Hair Until I Tried This Hack
- A claw-clip hair hack has been going viral on TikTok.
- All you need to test the hack is your favourite claw clip.
- One editor tested the hack on her fine hair and is sharing her results.
TikTok is a treasure trove when it comes to beauty hacks, and I’m not scared to admit that I’ve tested more than a few myself. Some are a little out of my comfort zone – like not washing my hair for seven days – but I’ve also tried a few things I now use in my daily life, like a TikTok filter that helps you find the perfect contour placement for your face.
When it comes to hair hacks, there’s a specific one involving a claw clip that I’ve seen on my page more times than I can count. I can’t remember exactly when claw clips came back on the scene, but ever since they’ve been considered an “in” hair accessory, I’ve been a happy girl. I love how easy they are to throw in your hair, and they can take any basic look and make it more elevated in just a few seconds. Some celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid have even adopted the trend, and their claw-clip looks are always the picture of perfection.
Although I’ve tried to nail the claw-clip look myself, it wasn’t until I tried this TikTok hack that I was finally able to get my hair looking flawless.
When I used to do claw-clip hairstyles, I would pull my hair into a low ponytail at the base of my head using just my hands. From there, I would twist all of the hair, bring the hair up the back of my head, and then twist the end of the ponytail down, so my hair looked like a horseshoe, before clipping everything in place. Everything ended up looking great from the front, but the same could not be said about the back. My hair was sticking out in places, and the style never lasted me more than a few hours before I had to completely redo it.
The new hack looks similar to a french twist from the back, and it looks just as stylish from the front. Plus, it only takes a few simple steps to achieve. To test the hack for myself, all I needed was my favourite claw clip.
I started by pulling my hair into a low ponytail at the base of my head using just my hands, and from there I held it in place using my left hand. I then took my thumb and pointer finger on my right hand and brought them down to the base of my ponytail, palm facing up. I used my fingers to grab the area where I would normally place a hair tie, and I twisted the hair around my fingers. Then, I just clipped everything in place with my claw clip. It’s a little tricky to explain, but it’s easy to master once you’ve watched it on video a few times.
Once I finally had it down, I couldn’t believe how easy it was to achieve. Plus, this new hairstyle didn’t leave any stray hairs sticking out, and the best part was that it lasted all day without needing to take it out and redo it even once. Ever since I learned this hack, I honestly haven’t been using my claw clips any other way, because I haven’t found a claw-clip style I love as much as this one.
If you’ve been wanting to try the claw-clip trend but you haven’t been sure how to make it work for your hair, give this hack a try. It takes less than a minute, and the final look is so chic.
