Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW) is back for 2022, from May 9th to May 13th, showcasing Resort Collections (ie. the looks that we’ll be serving this summer). While Fashion Week is all about the clothes, we’re just as interested in the beauty looks seen backstage and on the streets.
The schedule for this year’s AAFW includes over 50 shows and events, with local designers like Bassike, Bec + Bridge, Romance Was Born, Gari Bigeni, and Oroton hitting the runway. While we’ll see plenty of lust-worthy beauty looks worn by models, we’re also keeping an eye on the looks turned by Sydney’s most stylish people.
While we keep you updated on the trends we can look forward to this summer, get a temperature check on how Sydney’s most stylish people are glowing up this winter.
Draw a Line:
Liquid liner is an evergreen beauty trend and we saw five ways to wear it on the first day of AAFW 2022. From Fleur Egan’s “baby cat eye,” to Tara Chandra‘s razor-sharp wings, and the soft and smokey wing seen on the Olivia Molly Rogers, attendees on Fashion Week’s first day showed us the power of a wing to transform a look.
Skip the Mascara:
Mascara can pull a look together, and it definitely wakes us up. But it’s also a fast way to make beauty look too “done” — especially when paired with a feminine outfit. Elodie Russel and Nat Buchanan showed the power of skipping mascara, in favour of a barely-there eye. Both Russel and Buchanan channelled a Parisien take on beauty: sleepy, subtle, and totally sexy.
Indulge Your Curls:
Curls have been seen all over fashion week and model Blake Sutherland showed just how far you can push this trend with a shaggy green mop.
