Seven to Shop: Including Shoes 3 People DMed Me About and Stylish Scandi Trousers
Each month, POPSUGAR Australia’s Lifestyle Editor Sangeeta Kocharekar shares the fashion pieces she’s eyeing or buying. Note that POPSUGAR has affiliate and advertising partnerships so we might get revenue from your purchase.
Ever since I started scrolling TikTok, I’ve been seasonally confused. This summer in Australia has been the worst. My For You page is filled with creators wearing chunky, oversized knits, striped PJs and mini Uggs. I flick through the clips at the beach, researching the pieces they’re wearing, and considering buying them.
As a result, I’ve bought a pair of striped pants that could double as PJs and Ugg Tasman moccasins at the height of our summer. Fortunately, the pants are lightweight enough to work for summer, but Uggs do feel too dramatic for the weather. Ahead, I’m sharing some more January weather in Australia-appropriate items to shop for summer – some, it’s worth noting, I was gifted, others I bought. The pants, though, I had to include.
Ena Pelly Athleisure Leather Slide, $132
These sandals are fun with their Velcro straps – they remind me of being a kid strapping my tiny sneakers on. They come in black too, but I went with sand for a more summery feel.
Steele Daniella Pant, $149
The Scandi-style striped pants I mentioned earlier, though from an Australian brand. The waistband is thinner than I thought — I love a thick waistband as I find thin always twists — but so far, it hasn’t twisted. I’ve been wearing the pants constantly — they’re so easy to slip on and head out in. Also, I signed up for the brand’s newsletter for 10% off.
Arms of Eve Sardinia Wrap Top, $119
I wear lots of Arms of Eve jewellery, including rings (this hearts piece I get complemented on all the time) and chockers, so I was excited to hear they’d branched into fashion last year. I have this mesh wrap top and matching pants which, I do have to say, show your bum. If you’re not comfortable with that, I’d recommend wearing full briefs or on a beach day with your swimmers underneath. I don’t wear a bra with the top, though, and find it’s not see-through.
Terry Cruise Shirt, $220
This is a fun, statement shirt I’ve been wearing unbuttoned with a bikini underneath to the beach or buttoned and with neutral-coloured pants to casual events. Because it’s made from towel material that doesn’t stretch, it’s true-to-size.
Maggie Marilyn Linen Pants, $225
I can’t stop wearing these linen pants — they’re so comfy, go with almost every top in my wardrobe and are fitting for almost every occasion. I’m usually size small, but I sized up to a medium for these and love the slightly baggier fit.
Elka Collective Eze Dress, $249
Clearly, I’m a lover of linen. This dress from Melbourne brand Elka Collective can be dressed up with heels for a classy dinner or dressed down with Havaianas for a lunch date. Its thicker linen material and flattering, ’60s-style A-line silhouette under the armpit make it worth its price tag, in my opinion.
Hush Puppies Fire Sandals, on sale $89 (from $179.95)
I’ve had three friends slide into my DMs asking where my shoes are from when I posted a photo wearing these — all of them were surprised to hear they were from Hush Puppies, a brand known for comfort, but not as much for its trendiness. These shoes nail both with not a first-time-wear blister in sight.
