One of the best pieces I bought this past month was a white long-sleeved top from a vintage store in the Harajuku area in Tokyo for $20. While I wanted to buy something in the area, just to be able to casually say “I got it in Tokyo”, I didn’t expect it to be a piece I’d treasure for a decade to come.

It’s a mix of different styles – part Victorian, with a high neck; part modern, with a cropped fit; and also part “Tomato Girl” aesthetic, with its loose fit and billowy sleeves. The only downside to it is that it didn’t come with a label, so I wasn’t able to find the brand and shop more from it.

Until I manage to track the brand down, I’m sharing what else I wore this month – and, fortunately for anyone keen to shop it too, is still in stock. From a viral accessory that really is worth its hype, to a coat I’ve made all my work colleagues feel because I just can’t get over its softness, these are the best pieces I’m recommending to anyone who’ll listen to shop this month.

The Curated Classic Coat, $650

This is the soft coat! It’s definitely expensive at $650, but hear me out: it’s beautifully made, with 70% merino wool and 30% cashmere – so, if you look after it (it’s steam clean only), you’ll have it for at least a decade. Plus, it’s in a slightly oversized fit and knee-length cut – basically, a style that’ll never date. If you get it in black, it’ll work over nearly anything you wear. Also, I always find that if something is more expensive, I look after it more and always feel more elegant wearing it.

Friend of Audrey Mitford Handmade Knit Cardigan, $329.95

Another piece that’s slightly on the pricier end, but again, one you’ll have for years and get countless wears out of. Though, I would recommend you look after it, as I can imagine one snag will pull its knitting out. I’d wanted a chunky knit cardigan since I saw a bunch of influencers wearing some from a brand called Mr Mittens a couple years ago — they looked so cosy. This option is slightly more affordable and made from a similar fisherman’s rib fabric. It’s been great to wear in Sydney this winter as I can easily slip it off if I’m feeling too warm in the sun.

Muma Quandong Pattern Pant, $290

I have these pants in blue and yellow, and always get compliments on them. They’re made of a silky, thick material and have a slight flare at the bottom. I mostly wear them with neutral tops — like a white shirt or black sweater.

Uniqlo Round Mini Should Bag, $24.90

This is the viral accessory I mentioned – you might’ve seen it on TikTok or Instagram. Four other people in my office have it too – it’s that popular. I got mine in natural colour, so it’ll go with nearly every outfit and wear it slung over one shoulder, with the bag in front.

Summi Summi Robe Forest and Cream, $199

I am obsessed with this, as one drunk girl at a bar in Surry Hills called it, “camino”. It’s made from terry towelling. I have the matching bottoms too, which have a white stripe down the side that makes them look sporty.

July Everyday Tote Large, $165

I use this bag nearly every day for work and have used it as a carry-on for all my recent domestic travel. It’s made from sturdy canvas, and has lots of internal pockets, including one for a laptop. The best part about it, in my opinion, is how much I can fit. It can easily accommodate a laptop, book I’m reading, workout wear I’ll use for after-work Pilates, make-up and still have extra space if I needed to pack a sweater.

Nude Lucy Lyon Knit Cardigan, $90

I wear this top all the time, as it goes with most of my pants — though, nothing too low-rise as it has a cut-out. It’s subtly sexy, and the sleeves reaching my palms give it some elegance.
