Jennifer Aniston’s Face Is All of Us Watching the 5 Best Friends Bloopers
It dropped in Australia on Binge at 5.02pm and we had it on by 5.03pm. The highly anticipated Friends: Reunion was filled with nostalgia, bombshells (hello David Schwimmer and Jen Aniston’s reciprocated crush) and a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most iconic TV shows in the world.
And while we were thrilled to see all six of the cast in the same room together after 17 years (what?!) there was some seriously fun behind-the-scenes footage that we couldn’t get enough of.
The cast fooling around backstage, clearly never being able to get enough of each other, Aniston and Schwimmer flirting up a storm on Monica’s (Courteney Cox) couch and even footage of the coveted tapings — could you imagine being in the audience?
But for us, one of the best things ever was seeing the cast giggle their way through filming. Making each other, the producers and everyone in the studio also lose it. It was a treasure and hilarious and we just couldn’t get enough.
If you’re like us and have been caught in a loop of Friends blooper reels on Facebook or Instagram before, then you might have seen most of them already. However, there are so many more.
In honour of this (and the fact that the reunion even took place), here are five of our top favourite bloopers from the making of Friends.
The One Where Ross Plays the Bagpipes
Episode: The One With Joey’s New Brain, S07 E15
During this episode, Ross reveals that he has a surprise for Monica and Chandler’s wedding (Matthew Perry). After hearing someone across from them playing the bagpipes terribly, they realise this is indeed the surprise.
After they try to convince Ross that he can’t do it, Ross insists on performing the song Celebration in front of them, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) and Rachel.
The Best Lines: “You know the song, sing-a-long!”, “1,2,3,4!” (Ross says enthusiastically) and Phoebe trying to recreate the song.
The Blooper: The performance is so hilarious that the cast cannot keep a straight face, giving audiences arguably one of the best bloopers ever. Be sure to watch Aniston’s face. It’s hilarious.
The One With Rachel’s Trifle
Episode: The One Where Ross Got High, SE09 E06
In this episode, Monica hosts Thanksgiving while Chandler uses the occasion to try and win Jack (Elliot Gould) and Judy Geller (Christina Pickles) over.
Rachel ends up making a half trifle, half shepherd’s pie concoction comprising layers of ladyfingers, jam, custard, raspberries, more ladyfingers, beef sautéed with peas and onions, a little more custard, bananas, then whipped cream. Gross.
The Best Line: “It tastes like feet!” – Ross
The Blooper: During the blooper, Schwimmer puts too much trifle in his mouth and spits it out. LeBlanc then takes it and eats it. To watch, skip to 7.15 on the Season 6 Gag Reel below.
Plus watch this bonus interview with LeBlanc on Graham Norton where he talks about the grossest thing he ever ate on set. The trifle leftovers…from Schwimmer’s mouth.
The One Where They Have to “PIVOT!”
Episode: The One With the Cop, SE05 E16
In this episode, Ross is couch shopping. Refusing to pay the delivery fee, he asks Rachel to help him deliver it to the apartment building. When the couch gets stuck, they call in Chandler for help and hilarity ensues.
The Best Line: “PIVOT!” and “Shut up, shut up, shut uuughppp!”
The Blooper: Once again, Schwimmer is involved in one of the most iconic scenes ever and loses it while instructing Aniston and Perry to PIVOT! In an explanation in the footage below, he reveals it was the “hardest I have laughed in my life”.
The One Where Phoebe and Monica’s Old Roommate Amanda Buffamonteezi Visits
Episode: The One With Ross’s Tan, SE03 E10
Phoebe and Monica’s old roommate, Amanda — played by the hilarious Jennifer Coolidge — comes to visit. Amanda, while from New York, has picked up a British accent and inadvertently reveals that Phoebe wanted to cut Monica out of her life in the early ’90s.
The Best Line: “Oh bugger! Should I have not said that? I feel like a perfect arse!”
The Blooper: Coolidge was such a great addition to this episode, made even more perfect by her terrible British accent and the fact that Kudrow couldn’t hold it together every time the guest star said “arse”!
The One With the R-Rated “Rock, Paper, Scissors”
Episode: The One With the Late Thanksgiving, SE010 E8
Phoebe, Rachel, Ross, and Joey are 45 minutes late for dinner, leaving Monica and Chandler furious.
Scared to go in and face the wrath, the four friends play a game of rock, paper, scissors…fire?!
The Best Line: Joey – “Ha ha, I win!” Ross – “What is that?” Joey – “That’s fire! It beats everything!”
The Blooper: Nothing like losing it and being bleeped out because you’re swearing during a fun kids game! So good.
BONUS: The One Where Ben Checks Ross and Rachel Who Don’t Know Their Lines
Played by Cole and Dylan Sprouse, Ben grew up in front of our eyes (until he randomly disappeared alongside his TV mums).
And in this FUN B-T-S clip, the twins serious check Schwimmer and Aniston for not knowing their lines. So good!
