The Royal Family Gathered on the Palace Balcony After the Coronation – Without Prince Harry
King Charles III and Queen Camilla have officially been crowned. On May 6, the royal family waved to the public from the balcony of the Buckingham Palace following the king’s coronation ceremony. Charles and Camilla were joined by many members of the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids; and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie, and their two children. Prince Harry, however, was noticeably missing from the famous balcony shot.
A tradition initiated by Queen Victoria, the family has stepped onto the palace’s balcony after major events since 1851, to greet the public. Though the group is curated for every occasion, the king and queen are typically accompanied by other working royals and their children. Since both Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are no longer working members of the royal family, neither had a formal role in the coronation ceremony nor appeared on the balcony afterwards. After much speculation, Harry returned to the UK for the service without his wife Meghan Markle, who reportedly stayed in California to celebrate son Archie’s fourth birthday.
Three of the king’s grandchildren – George, Louis, and Charlotte – stole the show during the ceremony, and once again were in the spotlight as they flashed big smiles and waved to the public alongside relatives including Lady Louise Windsor and Sir Timothy Laurence.

Why Wasn't Prince Harry on the Balcony at King Charles's Coronation?
Prince Harry attended the coronation ceremony solo, seated in the third row during the formal service. Since he’s no longer a working royal, he also didn’t appear on the balcony for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee event in June 2022.
