“It Was My Time to Go:” Big Brother’s Charlotte Is Glad She Didn’t Get a Second Chance
On Wednesday’s episode of Big Brother, housemate Charlotte Hall was sent packing after just one additional vote sent her home.
Even though her best mate Ari Kimber was also up for eviction, due to a “technical fault” in the balloon challenge he was spared and the housemates had to decide between either her or intruder Gabe Criste.
Ultimately, six people nominated the Queensland stylist to go home, while, five, voted for Gabe. Then, after she said her goodbyes, Gabe then went into the eviction room and asked Big Brother if he could leave the house.
“You know what? I’ve thought about this in-depth,” Charlotte told POPSUGAR Australia after being asked if she thought she should have been able to re-enter after her housemate left. “I feel like it was my time to go.”
As for Gabe, Charlotte didn’t blame him for leaving.
“I’m a very social person and I feel like I can hold my own in a social setting,” she said. “He was an introvert, very polite, and such a lovely guy. I was just very concerned about his mental health. I had a bit of a meltdown in week one, but we turned it around. But I thought, ‘I’ve been there.’ If the environment is not right, and it’s not for you, then you should definitely leave. I don’t have any ill feelings towards him. That’s what was best for him.”
While she didn’t walk away with the prize money, the 24-year-old walked away with a lifelong friend in Ari, whom she says were the closest in the house.
“He and I were close from the very beginning, from the moment I met him on the plane. We actually had this conversation the other day. I said, ‘What was the moment that you knew I was your person?’ And he was like, ‘when we were on the plane and we were 12 hours deep and you said ‘I have a head-archay’ — I say that instead of headaches,” she said. “He was like, ‘who is this weirdo from Queensland?’ I just adore him.”
Sydney-based Ari is known for calling it like it is and basically “lying” to the housemates to get them onside — but for Charlotte, she saw the real Ari.
“I feel like we’re ying and yang,” she said. “I definitely feel like I know the real Ari and I remember when everything went down, like everyone was questioning me being like, ‘what has he told you’. I said, ‘I’m not going to tell you!”
Now that Charlotte has left the house, she’s had time to reflect on her experience, including the time she opted out of the Walking On Sunshine scary karaoke challenge.
“I felt so disappointed in myself,” she said.”I feel like in that week it was just a series of unfortunate events that just kept rolling over. That week was such a write off for me but no one was more disappointed in myself than me.”
Big Brother airs Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
