It seems like a lifetime ago when Stan released its original series Bump. Premiering on January 1, 2021, the series gained popularity from all ages, exploring the effects of teenage motherhood.
Picked up for a second season only a week-and-a-half after it was released, Claudia Karvan said it was “the show we needed now”.
To say our excitement levels for the next instalment is at an all-time high is an understatement, but we’re not the only ones.
Speaking to POPSUGAR Australia on the blue carpet of the premiere of Ru Paul’s Drag Race: Down Under, the series’ leading cast — and the cutest couple on-screen in Australia right now, Nathalie Morris and Carlos Sanson Jr, expressed their eagerness to get back into production.
“We’re super, super, super excited, mainly just to hang out with everybody,” Morris said.
“Doing it again now that we’re all so close is going to be great because by the end of the shoot, there was such good chemistry and such a way that everyone was with each other that takes time to build,” Sanson Jr added.
“So now to jump into series two and to already have that from the get-go, it’s exciting.”
For Morris, Bump is like, well, one big family!
“It’s like going to set with your family,” she said. “It’s going to be a bit strange but we’re really keen to see where the story goes.”
Luckily for them, filming will begin in the last few months of the year, which means that we could be seeing another January 1, 2022 start date.
Starring alongside the pair is Claudia Karvan and Angus Sampson, who are returning as Oly’s parents, as well as Catalina Palma, Safia Arain, Paula Garcia, Ioane Saula, Peter Thurnwald and Ricardo Scheihing Vasquez.
Stan also said that more of the confirmed cast and filming will be announced at a later date.
Season one started with a 10-part drama series that centred around Oly (Morris), an ambitious and high-achieving teenage girl who has a surprise baby; and the complications that ensue for two families.
Set in and around a high school in contemporary inner Sydney and following the main characters home, Bump explored unexpected motherhood, unwelcome new relatives, and unintended consequences with humour and emotional honesty.
As for season two, there’s no word on the exact plot as Karvan and the writers are still keeping mum, however, now that Santi (Sanson Jr) and Oly are officially “seeing how it goes”, we’re hoping to see more of their relationship blossom.
