This Liquid Blush Is the Star Product in a Dewy Makeup Routine
Dewy skin lovers, I have a product recommendation that might just change your makeup-loving life. As someone with dry skin, I’m all about liquid products. I avoid anything remotely powder-based and steer clear of matte products (with a recent matte foundation the current exception), so when I was introduced to this blush, which has dewy in the name, I was intrigued, to say the least.
Ciaté London’s Dewy Blush ($33) has a gel-balm consistency that dries with a glossy finish on the skin. It comes in four colours — a coral shade called Papaya, a bright pink called Watermelon, a bronzed colour called Coconut and a muted pink called Pomegranate — and is 100 percent vegan.
I have been lucky enough to try all four shades and have to say, the Papaya colour is by far my favourite for my skin tone as it’s the perfect buttery coral hue that blends into the skin to give you a natural flush. Formulated with ingredients commonly found in skincare products, like hyaluronic acid, which provides hydration, it also contains yuzu and dragon fruit extract to enhance skin’s radiance.
When you first squeeze the product out, don’t be intimidated by how pigmented the product looks. It’s bright, yes, but it blends out. The easiest way I found to apply the Dewy Blush is to squirt a little onto the back of my hand and blend it a little into my hand with my makeup brush before applying it to my cheeks. As soon as you begin to move the blush around, it begins to blend out and leave the most lovely flush of colour.
I haven’t personally tried blending the product with just my fingers (I’m a makeup brush gal all the way) but users on the MECCA website have done so and say it works just as well when applied with your fingers.
As the product settles into your skin, it give you a healthy glow and I’ve even found I don’t need much highlighter as the blush does a lot of the talking when it comes to dewy skin. A little bit of product goes a long way so only squeeze a little out.
Unlike powder blushes, which I find can cling to any spots of dryness, or cream blushes, which can move around on the skin, I personally find this liquid blush to have the perfect amount of staying power while keeping the skin looking hydrated and dewy. It most certainly lives up to its name and my obsession with this product doesn’t seem to be dwindling anytime soon..
