A Breakdown of Everything We Know About Spider-Man: No Way Home – With No Trolling!
If it’s felt like ages since we last got excited about Spider-Man, it has been. The last time we had any solid news about the third instalment of Tom Holland’s friendly neighbourhood web-slinger, was during the tense tug of war between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures back in August 2019 over their film agreement. Luckily, the two studios reached an accord the next month, and since then, it’s been a whirlwind of rumours, teases, and, of course, constant trolling from the cast. If you’re still trying to sort through the bevy of information about the recently titled Spider-Man: No Way Home – we swear, this is the right title – we’re here to help you break it down. Keep reading for an up-to-date list of what exactly is going down when Peter Parker returns to the big screen on December 26.
Spider-Man: No Way Home Cast
The gang is back together again! The main characters from the previous two movies have all returned for their third go, including Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon. But several familiar faces – both from the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Verse – are making their debuts in Spidey’s world! Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will step into the mentor role previously filled by Tony Stark, with reports that Jamie Foxx‘s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus are also appearing in the film. Did someone say multiverse?!
What Is Spider-Man: No Way Home About?
Honestly, who knows! The cast have been keeping details mum, but logically, the series will follow the events kicked off in Far From Home, in which Quentin Beck exposes Peter’s secret to the entire world. The title itself is a pretty big indicator that Peter will be lost in flux, maybe on the run from people coming after him because of his superhero alter ego. Will he be public enemy number one? Will he work out a cover story? Or will he take the route of his original mentor and just own his two identities? There are so many possibilities!
Will Spider-Man: No Way Home Involve the Multiverse?
The biggest question of the franchise right now! Far From Home introduced the concept of multiverses but it wasn’t until WandaVision that the possibility was properly set up. Rumors have been circulating that the main cast from the two previous Spider-Man film franchises have inked deals to return, with claims that Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst are already on board and Tobey Maguire and Emma Stone will be back as long as their schedules allow it. If those actors’ characters are in the film, it’s a secure bet that it’ll explore the multiverse as their three worlds collide. Not only would this be a live-action iteration of the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, but it would also be the perfect segue into Doctor Strange’s second standalone film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A film that also stars WandaVision‘s Elizabeth Olsen!
