After much speculation, Olympic gold medallist Emily Seebohm and ‘Married at First Sight’ alum Ryan Gallagher have confirmed they’re dating.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Seebohm posted a photo of the pair looking happy together on a balcony with the caption, “Letting you in on a little secret.”
At the same time, Gallagher shared a photo of himself with Seebohm’s arms around his neck and accompanied the picture only with the heart eyes emoji.
The couple first met in Argentina earlier this year while they were both competing in Network 10’s newest competitive reality series, “The Challenge Australia”.
Following Seebohm’s elimination from the show this week, the Olympic swimmer provided some insight into how the pair initially bonded, telling Yahoo: “Ryan had my back 150%, I had his back 150%. And that’s hard to find in a game where you kind of go to lie… you go to backstab people. And we just knew that, from each other, we weren’t going to do that. And that was something that doesn’t come easily in life.”
Throughout the show’s first season, “The Challenge Australia” has played home to hook-ups between countless competitors, including Ciarran Stott and Audrey Kanongora, Konrad Bien-Stephen and Megan Marx, and Jessica Brody and Johnny Eastoe. But Seebohm says she and Gallagher kept things strictly professional until after filming had wrapped.
“We were only friends on the show. Obviously, nothing like other people had on the show, we didn’t have any of that. We had no rendezvous in the spa, we had no shower scenes, none of that. We kept it very clean,” she said.
“But then, after the show, we both met up in Argentina, and we decided to go travelling together. And yeah, I mean, we’ve kind of been inseparable since the show.”
The four-time Olympic swimmer then added, “I’m super happy. I know I didn’t win this show, but I definitely feel like I won.”
Gallagher, who was paired with Davina Rankin during Season 5 of “Married at First Sight” and went on to compete in “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”, previously denied the relationship, telling 2Day FM there was “unfortunately not” anything between he and Seebom, adding, “Em is a beautiful, beautiful girl and if there was a relationship there I’d be very lucky… And if she ever did want to, I would be extremely happy.”
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, it may be time for a retraction from Ryan.
