There’s more to Kourtney Kardashian’s latest manicure than meets the eye. The reality-TV star shared a close-up look at her new nails from manicurist Kim Truong on her Instagram Story, and what looks to be a neutral manicure is actually a lesson in illusion – also known as the “flipside” nail-art trend. When Kardashian turned her hand, you could see that underneath her oval-shaped nails, there was a pop of red nail polish.
Truong called the look “peek-a-boo nails” when she reshared Kardashian’s video, but we like to think of the flipside trend as the Louboutin of manicures since the pop of colour mirrors the hidden red sole that the shoes are known for. Selena Gomez previously had similar nails last May at the Global Citizen VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World event, except her take featured black-and-white french tips on top and a bright red underneath.
