The Naked Sundays SPF50+ Glow Body Mist Is the Latest Addition to My SPF Favourites
Trialling new sunscreen products is always interesting given how hard it is to perfect the formula. As someone who uses SPF every single day, I have a handful of favourite products that I use all the time and it’s not often that a new product makes its way into the daily SPF rotation.
Naked Sundays is an Australian brand that launched in January 2021 and recently announced a new stockist, with the Naked Sundays range now available to shop at MECCA — a huge feat for such a young brand. I’ve been a fan of the products for quite a few months now — the Naked Sundays Collagen Glow Creme ($34.95) is my absolute favourite, thanks to the non-greasy, glow-giving formula.
One of the more recent launches from the brand is the Naked Sundays SPF50+ Glow Body Mist ($42.95), which is a spray sunscreen for, you guessed it, your body. The product is cruelty-free, sulphate-free and vegan and is formulated with Kakadu plum, which is rich in vitamin E, vitamin C, folic acid and carotenoids.
These wonder ingredients are known to help reduce the signs of ageing, while also guarding against free radicals. The addition of watermelon extract also helps to hydrate, plump and smooth the skin. When it comes to sun protective qualities, this baby offers SPF50+ broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
In the past, I haven’t been the biggest fan of spray sunscreens as it feels difficult to achieve adequate protection. In December 2020, the Cancer Council warned against the use of such products, after a study by the Queensland University of Technology found them to be less effective as they are diluted compared to cream SPF.
According to The Guardian, despite these findings, the issue largely revolved around how the product was applied rather than the spray products themselves. So, if you’re using spray sunscreens, keep in mind that you have to use a lot of product — more than you think you need.
Naked Sundays Glow Body Mist Review
So, with this at the forefront of my mind, I gave the Naked Sundays Glow Body Mist a go and I’m a convert. When applied, the product feels similar to that of a dry oil and the application is smooth, with a fine mist released from the bottle.
The product is clear, so it doesn’t leave a white cast and it doesn’t feel sticky, greasy or oily on the skin. In fact, it sinks into your skin super quickly and I didn’t find any issues with layering the product either (in some instances, other SPF products can feel sticky when you layer them).
Naked Sundays recommends spraying each section of your limbs seven times to get adequate protection. I used a few more sprays than this for good measure, as some of the mist is always bound to end up in the air. The addition of brightening extracts means that the product leaves a natural-looking glow on the skin and the scent is lovely, with a fresh, fruity aroma.
Given the ease of application and the high-quality nature of the product, I’m a big fan of this SPF mist. Will I use it for days spent at the beach or when I know I’ll be in the sun for long periods of time? Probably not. I’ll opt for a cream-based SPF product for those days, but I will continue using the Naked Sundays spray for day-to-day protection.
You can shop the SPF50+ Glow Body Mist via the Naked Sundays website or at MECCA. And from May 16 to May 18 the entire Naked Sundays collection is 15% off when you use the code; SUNSCREENFRENZY.
