Shanghai Disneyland Has Finally Reopened – See the Photos as Guests Return to the Park
On Monday, May 11, Shanghai Disneyland reopened its doors – the first Disney park to open since COVID-19 swept the globe. Tickets sold out in minutes as eager fans rushed to get a little taste of magic. The park did implement several safety measures aimed at keeping guests healthy and safe – including opening with limited attendance and requiring advanced ticketing and reservations; social distancing in lines, restaurants, ride vehicles, and other facilities throughout the park; and increased frequency of sanitization and disinfection, according to a press release. Guests are also required to wear a mask for the duration of their visit (except when eating) and submit to a temperature check before entering the park.
While the majority of Shanghai Disneyland’s attractions and rides, shows, and shopping and dining locations resumed operations, not everything was back – some interactive attractions, like children’s play areas or theater shows, remained closed. The park also held off from resuming some of its parades and nighttime spectaculars, but a special Disney characters parade did take place, and the iconic castle lit up and played music at the end of the evening, giving guests a taste of their favorite magical moments. Keep reading to see exactly what that grand reopening looked like.
