Spectrum Is Offering Free WiFi to Families So Students Can Learn – Here's How to Get It

Charter Communications is offering free Spectrum broadband and WiFi access to families with children in grades K-12 or college that are homebound due to the coronavirus outbreak. On March 13, the company announced that beginning Monday, March 16, customers would be able to access its services at no cost for 60 days (and with waived installation fees!).

The offer applies only to “households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps.” Additionally, those applying must live in an area Spectrum services, and according to a Twitter user who claimed to have called about the offer, you “can’t owe Spectrum money from the past 3 yrs or you can’t owe them equipment.”

“As the country works collaboratively to contain this pandemic, broadband internet access will be increasingly essential to ensuring that people across the country are able to learn and work remotely, that businesses can continue to serve customers, and that Americans stay connected and engaged with family and friends,” reads the company’s website.

“Charter’s advanced communications network will ensure our more than 29 million customers – including government offices, first responders, health care facilities, and businesses – across 41 states maintain the connectivity they rely on.”
