Australia Lands Its First-Ever Emergency Contraception Delivery Service

Australia already has it’s very first contraceptive pill subscription platform, and now, a new player in the women’s health space has entered the chat with Australia’s first morning after pill delivery service.

Launched on International Women’s Day in 2021, women’s health service provider, Youly, is putting the power back into the hands of Australian women and empowering them to make their own choices when it comes to contraception.

Should someone wish to attain emergency contraception, they need not visit a pharmacist, and instead can simply order the morning after pill online with discreet and same-day delivery to your door.

Requests for emergency contraception are screened by a pharmacist before they’re sent out, to ensure the recipient receives exactly what they need and safely. Should the health professional need some more information, they can engage you in a text-based consult, meaning there’s no need to visit the doctors in person.

In its launch, Youly set out to provide a comprehensive suite of women’s health solutions, with treatments designed to manage everything from thrush and cold sores to the contraceptive pill.

“Youly’s services fill a major gap in the market for women at every stage of their lives – providing increased access to healthcare, which is fantastic for women everywhere, but particularly women in areas where getting quick access to a doctor’s appointment can be challenging,” said Dr Katherine Hanks, a Newcastle-based practitioner, in a statement.

“Youly’s services are so useful for women – especially young women – who can be nervous or embarrassed when discussing their sexual health with pharmacists and doctors, and as a result can miss out on important healthcare. This service removes a lot of barriers by providing a discreet, safe and convenient way of looking after their health needs,” Dr Hanks said.

Youly’s founder Nic Blair says the platform’s mission is to empower Aussie women to have control of their bodies in a safe, supported and convenient way.

“We don’t believe women of any age should be required to have an uncomfortable experience when it comes to obtaining emergency contraception, yet the current process for many women is certainly that. We set out to see how we could change this and I’m proud to say that we have,” Blair said.

The emergency contraception delivery service is now available for women in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and the Sunshine Coast, with new locations added weekly. All other services are available Australia-wide.
