Nintendo is Releasing an Adorable Party Game Where You Play as Guinea Pigs and We’re So Excited
Pui Pui Molcar is a hugely popular Japanese stop-motion series about cars that are actually cute little guinea pigs, and now it’s being made into a party game for the Switch. In Pui Pui Molcar Let’s! Molcar Party!, you and up to three friends will compete in a series of mini-games like dancing, soccer, rhythm games and the Pui Pui kart races.
Each player will control a different Molcar (a combination of “molmot”, the Japanese word for guinea pig, and “car”) in these adorable mini-games to compete for carrots and other guinea pig-approved treats. When you’re not in a game, you’ll hang out in Moltown where you can dress your guinea pig up in new outfits, take photos, and pat your Molcar. There are more than 40 different Molcars to unlock and every single one of them is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
The trailer for Pui Pui Molcar Let’s! Molcar Party! was released in early October, but people have recently rediscovered it and are losing their minds all over again.
Pui Pui Molcar the show was released on Netflix early this year. It consists of twelve short episodes that follow the Molcars as they get up to various guinea pig antics. The first episode, for instance, is about a Molcar who helps a cute little Molcar ambulance get through a traffic jam by lifting it on top of the line up of cars. The second episode follows a high-speed Molcar chase as a team of bank robbers make a daring escape from the police. Take notes, Vin Diesel.
In the show, the Molcars are made with fuzzy balls of wool and beads for eyes β and little woollen wheels! β and the game seems to be using the same design. Good.
Currently, there’s no Western release date confirmed for the game, but an English version will be coming out in Southeast Asian countries β and because Switch games aren’t region locked, you’ll be able to pick the game up from an importer or the Hong Kong Switch store following its initial December 16 release.
