The Next Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Might Be Releasing Sooner Than We Think
The Booster Course Pass wave 1 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released in March, adding eight new courses from across the series’ history, and it looks like the second wave is coming very soon.
First spotted by @PushDustIn at a 7-Eleven in Japan, an ad for the Booster Course wave 1 includes a note that the ad should be taken down on July 17, 2022. Presumably, this means the ad will be replaced by an announcement for the Booster Course Pass wave 2 on or just after that date.
It’s all theories at this point, but it wouldn’t be the first time something like this has happened. Similar ads in 7-Eleven stores in Japan announced new fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate right before they were released in the game. It’s possible this ad will be replaced by one for a different game altogether, but fans are pretty convinced that all signs point to the Booster Course Pass wave 2 release date.
Nintendo is taking an unusual approach to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC. The Booster Course Pass expansion adds 48 remastered courses from throughout the Mario Kart series, including nostalgic favourites like the N64 Choco Mountain and Wii Coconut Mall. The expansion is releasing in six waves, with each wave adding two cups and eight courses.
The first wave added the Golden Dash Cup with Paris Promenade, Toad Circuit, Choco Mountain and Coconut Mall, and the Lucky Cat Cup with Tokyo Blue, Shroom Ridge, Sky Garden and Ninja Hideaway. The second wave will add the Turnip Cup and Propeller Cup, but the courses within the cups are still a surprise.
We’ll have to wait until July 17 to see whether the theory is true. If you want to upgrade to the Switch OLED in preparation, they’re currently on sale as part of Amazon Prime Day. The Switch and Switch Lite are also on sale, along with Joy-Con controllers, so you’re covered.
