Meghan Markle Exudes Elegance in an All-White Power Suit at the Invictus Games
Meghan Markle is looking chic as usual ahead of the Invictus Games in the Netherlands. On Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted at a welcome reception for the week-long event, marking their first joint visit to Europe since stepping away from their working royal duties.
For the occasion, Markle opted for a sleek, all-white power suit from Valentino, consisting of a slightly oversized double-breasted blazer and high-waisted trousers. Historically, white pantsuits have symbolised a nod to suffragettes and signalled hope for the future. She accessorised with a matching gold chain handbag from the designer, as well as pointed white heels from Aquazzura. For jewellery, she kept things simple with a gold necklace, bracelet, and her signature Cartier Tank Française watch, which was also loved by Princess Diana. Alongside the Duchess, Prince Harry wore a casual dark suit without a tie.
Markle has long been a fan of monochromatic dressing, often seen wearing the same colour from head-to-toe. Most recently, she donned a royal blue gown at the NAACP Image Awards in February, and for the Salute to Freedom Gala last November, she wore all-red. White is also a popular choice for the royal – she stunned in a white embroidered minidress at the Global Citizen Live Concert back in September, and notably a white trench dress when she introduced her son Archie to the world in June 2019. Not to mention, she practically invented the crisp white button-down.
The Invictus Games, a sporting event that honours wounded service members and veterans, is
where the pair first met in May 2016. Markle happened to be filming “Suits” in Toronto, where Harry was launching the event. The two later made their first public appearance as a couple at the following games in 2017. Ahead, get a closer look at the Duke and Duchess kicking off the sports competition, as well as Markle’s elegant pantsuit.
