It always feels like a massive win when we see an international celebrity we love wearing an Australian designer. It’s a beautiful reminder that great fashion will find the fashionable, wherever in the world they may be.
And that was exactly the case for Gigi Hadid, who wore a divine three-piece lace ensemble by Australian designer Dion Lee for her 27th birthday.
Hadid stepped out in Dion Lee’s Spring ’22 Wave Lace Frock Coat, Contour Corset and Contour Lace Pant, which hasn’t been released on the Australian market yet (we will update you as soon as it does).
Pairing it with a Chanel-esc stack of pearls, a gorgeous simple winged-eye and her signature slicked back mid-ponytail, Hadid looked just as flawless as ever; with a touch of old school Euro-chic vibes.
There is something super eye-catching about this look. It’s a delicious mixture of old and new — with shoulder pads, intricate lace pattern and structured long jacket, reminiscent of something vintage, but then with a boned corset, flared-transparent pants and rough, raw edges bringing it back towards today’s trends. It’s edgy, but still classy and timeless.
Dion Lee is a Sydney-based designer brand that launched in 2009, and has since become known for its experimental construction combined with traditional tailoring.
It describes its aesthetic as “technical with an intelligent sensuality”, which is absolutely aligned with this look that Hadid chose for her 27th birthday, with its clear structural elements and obviously seductive qualities.
