Margot Robbie’s Bra Top and Ryan Gosling’s Graphic T-Shirt Are Peak Barbiecore
Since news of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” movie surfaced, there’s been a renewed obsession with the iconic brand. The Barbiecore fashion trend gained popularity last year with stylish stars like Hailey Bieber and Cardi B wearing head-to-toe pink, and the upcoming film has only heightened our obsession with the bright hue.
First introduced by the toy company Mattel in 1959, the all-American brand comes to life in the Gerwig’s movie, with Margot Robbie playing the classic doll and Ryan Gosling playing Ken. The highly anticipated comedy, which hits theaters in July, will make history as the first live-action “Barbie” film after years of animated and television adaptations – and it’s already brought with it tons of fashion inspiration. This past December, Warner Bros released a trailer that gave the world a first glimpse of official footage, and the “Barbie” movie costumes don’t disappoint. In the latest trailer, Barbie dons a ’50s-inspired blue-and-white set while driving her signature pink convertible, and Ken shows off his abs in a denim vest and light-wash jeans.
The onscreen couple continues to serve Barbie-inspired nostalgia in real life as they embark on the film’s press tour. At the CinemaCon in Las Vegas on April 25, both Robbie and Gosling appeared in looks true to their characters. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, the actress donned a minimal yet striking two-piece set by Prada, similar to her usual Barbie aesthetic. The set consisted of a pink gingham bra featuring black ricrac trim and a matching miniskirt, paired with a gold Chanel ankle bracelet and pink peep-toe mules from Christian Louboutin. Gosling also channeled his inner Ken with a pink-centered outfit that featured a fuchsia suede jacket, a T-shirt that read “From Director, Greta Gerwig” in classic Barbie font, and black jeans with a pair of Clarks.
As excitement builds for the film’s July 21 release, keep scrolling for a few more angles of Robbie and Gosling’s looks ahead. And keep checking back for updates on all their “Barbie” movie press-tour looks.
