Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have always been couple goals. The pair, who have been together for more than a decade, rarely offer insight into their relationship, but Gosling gave fans a glimpse on BBC’s “The One Show” on July 19.
Speaking live from the London premiere of his latest action-packed film “The Gray Man”, Gosling revealed just what Mendes thinks of him playing Ken in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” film. “She’s been very supportive. She’s supporting my Kenergy. She started a hashtag, #Thatsmyken, which meant a lot to me,” he said. Gosling also went on to state that he didn’t expect the world’s first image of Ken, dressed in double denim, to become “the biggest on the planet.” Whereas we argue, how could it not with that tan, that hair, those abs.
Mendes, who shares daughters Esmeralda, 7, and Amada, 6, with Gosling, showed her appreciation for her partner’s work on Instagram. Alongside the globally admired photo, she wrote: “So. F. Funny. So. F. Good. So F excited for you to see this… #Thatsmyken”.

When pressed for information by presenter Roman Kemp on the BBC show, Gosling brought the conversation back to the matter at hand, by combining his two big films. “You know I could tell you that ‘The Gray Man’ would be Ken’s favourite movie,” he joked. Although, for many, it’s clear that Gosling has been channelling the Ken aesthetic while on the promo tour for his latest film, most recently stepping out in a mint green Gucci suit for the Hollywood premiere.
Gosling had previously joked about his upcoming role in a Variety interview, saying: “I felt like I was seeing myself. I felt seen. I think a lot of Kens will feel seen when they see this . . . Gotta do it for the Kens. Nobody plays with the Kens.”
If Gosling’s appearance on “The One Show” left you hungry for more, you’re in luck. Netflix’s action-thriller “The Gray Man” is in theatres now and hits Netflix on July 22. The highly anticipated “Barbie” film is due to be released in July 2023.
