Taylor Swift Leads the 2023 MTV VMAs Nominations

The nominations for the 2023 MTV VMAs have been announced. Taylor Swift leads the bunch with a total of eight nominations, including seven nods for her song “Anti-Hero” from “Midnights,” as well as a nomination for artist of the year. SZA has the second most nominations with a total of six, followed by Olivia Rodrigo, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Sam Smith, and Miley Cyrus, who all trail behind with five each.

The show, which will air on Sept. 12, has also honored a record-setting 35 first-time nominees, including GloRilla, Boygenius, Reneé Rapp, and Ice Spice. An Afrobeats category has also been added for the first time. Additional nominees include Shakira, Dua Lipa, Pink, Dove Cameron, Kendrick Lamar, Maluma, and Beyoncé, who netted a nomination for artist of the year.
