Michelle Yeoh and Tina Fey Star in the Terrifying “A Haunting in Venice” Trailer
Spooky season starts early this year. This September, “A Haunting in Venice” – based on Agatha Christie’s “Hallowe’en Party” – is making a splash with a supernatural murder mystery featuring Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh and Tina Fey. “A Haunting in Venice” is the third film in Kenneth Branagh’s Christie-themed mystery franchise. He directed and starred as detective Hercule Poirot in 2017’s “Murder on the Orient Express” and 2022’s “Death on the Nile.” 20th Century Fox released the full trailer for the mystery film on July 19, and it shows a retired Poirot meeting up with his friend Ariadne Oliver (Fey). Ariadne has spent years meeting – and discrediting – psychics, but the newest one, Joyce Reynolds (Yeoh), seems to be the real deal. Poirot agrees to help, sending them down a dangerous rabbit hole where nothing is at it seems.
Branagh has said “A Haunting in Venice” is quite different from the first two films. “I would say that we are firmly a supernatural thriller, and the normal rules do not apply,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in April. “So, as magnificent as Venice is, the film and the story itself is not as Gothic as it might appear, but it’s certainly exotic.” He credited screenwriter Michael Green for adapting Christie’s story deftly and not being afraid to “scare people.”
