Tully and Drew are Reuniting on Big Brother Australia — Let’s Breakdown Their Relationship

If you tuned in to season 10 of Big Brother Australia back in 2013, then you would know that no season has been able to top it since. It was the most thrilling instalment, and it was because of two housemates: Tully Smyth and Anthony Drew. 

Their relationship had everyone in the country hooked, and now, they’re back for Big Brother Royalty vs New Contenders. 

Before we tune in to the latest season, let’s take a look back at their journey on the show.

In 2013, Tully Smyth entered the Big Brother house already committed to her girlfriend of over two years, Tahlia Farrant. That was when she crossed paths with Anthony Drew.

Speaking on her podcast, Too Much Tully, in November 2020, the former reality TV star said she immediately knew Drew was “trouble” as soon as he walked in.

“In walks this 6’2′, tall, dark, and handsome, bright blue eyes kids, and honestly, hand on my heart, Taylor Swift’s song [I Knew You Were] Trouble had just come out before we went in the house and that sh*t started playing in my head”.

However, Drew’s first impression of Tully wasn’t so flattering. Speaking on the same podcast, the model said, “she was loud and complained and cried”.

Regardless, the two went on to have a steamy affair during their time in the Big Brother house — much to Tully’s girlfriend’s dismay.

After watching her partner cheating on her on national television, Tully’s girlfriend Tahlia took to Twitter to share her two cents.

“Thanks for your concern, but I am a big girl. I will be just fine. Life goes on,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Tully had no idea what was happening in the outside world and remained blissfully unaware that she had just been dumped.

After being booted from the show, viewers were waiting in anticipation to see Tully’s live reaction to the news of her girlfriend choosing to move on. But understandably, the show’s psychologists were the ones to approach her about the situation professionally and compassionately.

Many viewers, however, were unable to look past what Tully had done, and as she navigated the outside world, she faced a barrage of abuse from fans of the show. Inside the house, Drew mourned her absence, until she was brought back in for a very memorable challenge.

The task was simple: When the games-master said “freeze”, the contestants would be required to obey.

Of course, this is reality television, so they needed to spice things up a little bit. This is why, when Drew was conveniently standing near one of the house’s doors, the housemates were told to freeze. That was when the entrance opened and Tully walked in, planting a kiss on Drew’s lips and whispering “by the way, I’m single” in his ear.

She then turned around and left.

After the show came to a close, the pair took their relationship public, but things didn’t last long.

After three months of dating, Tully told OK! Magazine that the two had parted ways.

“It was a lot of pressure living in different states, and the regular couples’ issues seemed to be magnified being out of the house,” Tully said. 

Where are Tully and Drew Now?

Tully is currently working as an Instagram influencer, blogger and podcast host. While Drew continues his career in modelling. While the former flames lead separate lives, they did reunite for the influencer’s podcast, Too Much Tully, in November 2020.

“We’ve never really fallen out of touch,” Drew said in the podcast, a statement Tully disagreed with, saying, “Drew has had a lot of relationships since us, whereas I haven’t, so I’m always open to being friends and keeping the line of communication open and it’s sometimes harder for him. Apparently, a lot of his ex-partners don’t like me. It’s bizarre”.

Will They Get Back Together?

The two of them are set to reunite once again on the upcoming season of Big Brother, we will just have to wait and see.
