She’s Only 12, But Janaki Easwar Blew Judges Away on The Voice Australia
She’s only 12 year’s old, but Janaki Easwar blew the judges and viewers away with her powerful performance on The Voice Australia 2021.
As the youngest artist ever to audition for the show, Janaki proved age was just a number as she lit up the stage with her mesmerising rendition of Billie Eilish’s Lovely with a classical Indian twist.
Brushing off the nerves, Janaki gave it her all, making all four judges turn around.
“A lot of other artists are twice my age, three times my age, sometimes even four times my age,” she says to the camera.
“It’s scary thinking I’m the youngest here.”
Rita Ora was the first to spin her chair, with Keith Urban, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian following closely behind.
“I don’t think you have any idea how good you actually are,” said Rita, clearly shellshocked at what she had just heard.
Jessica agreed, saying: “I didn’t realise how much existed inside of me, you have that power too and I feel that. I would love to hold your hand and be your coach.”
Janaki’s performance earned her a standing ovation from not only the crowd but the judges too.
But it wasn’t over just yet. Guy then asked if she could sing an Indian song for them, and boy, did she deliver.
Her second performance of the night left the judges in tears, and in the end, Janaki chose to be on Team Jess.
