You’ll Be Floored By The Block: Fans vs Faves Basement Reveals
The Block: Fans vs Faves has had one heck of a week. With one scandal unfolding after the other, it’s safe to say the home renovation show has never faced drama as messy as this.
Brothers Josh and Luke and couple Tanya and Vito were caught cheating after it was revealed they were in possession of a photograph that gives away the production schedule.
Tanya, who claimed to have deleted the photo immediately after she had received it from an “anonymous tradie”, was caught lying about what actually happened.
Thankfully, amidst all the drama, the show still managed to find time to do the highly anticipated room reveals.
This week, the contestants were tasked with transforming the basement. Let’s see how they went.
Ronnie and Georgia
The couple completely revamped the basement and turned it into a cinema room, featuring a twinkling ceiling that proved to be a hit with the judges. Spending $23,410, Ronnie and Georgia impressed the professionals but there were a few qualms. The first issue was raised by Darren, who went upstairs and could hear everything, saying the pair needs to focus on acoustics. Second, Neale isn’t a fan of home cinemas, to begin with.
Mitch and Mark
As soon as Shaynna and Darren walked into Mitch and Mark’s steam/spa room, they let out a giant “WOW”. The judges thought the room was stunning and found it to be the ultimate luxury inclusion. Spending $31,795, the couple’s basement renovation set them apart from every other contestant in the competition.
Josh and Luke
Unfortunately for the twins, the only hit was the life-size Ironman figure. The judges felt the cinema looked far too commercial, and the layout was congested and small. Shaynna also thought the styling was “dismal” and “lazy”. They spent $28,231 in total.
Tanya and Vito
The judges were impressed with Tanya and Vito’s cinema room and loved the choice of furniture. But Shaynna did have some criticisms about the curtains and everyone agreed on the black paint job on the ceiling was terrible. The couple spent $32,106.
Kirsty and Jesse
Spending the most out of all the teams, Kirsty and Jesse spent $34,117 on their home cinema room. Thankfully, it paid off as the judges felt the room had the perfect vibe, and the insulation was amazing.
In the end, Kirsty and Jesse took home the win, while Tanya and Vito and Josh and Luke both lost two points due to the whole cheating debacle.
