Grab Your Hard Hat Because The Block: Tree Change Is About to Kick Off
Grab your hard hat and hammer because The Block is returning!
The upcoming season has already been shrouded in drama after Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull pulled out of the show last minute.
However, the show must go on, and after months of delays, The Block: Tree Change will premiere on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
It’s a season full of firsts, and this year, the contestants will take on properties in regional Victoria.
Not to mention, host Scott Cam will be renovating a home on the show for the first time ever.
The teams will be tasked with transforming five houses in Gisborne South, near the Macedon Ranges — a major departure from previous Block locations, which include Inner Melbourne suburbs, St Kilda, Brighton and Elsternwick.
Last month, The Block’s executive producer, Julian Cress, revealed that the show was struggling to meet the premiere deadline.
“We set ourselves an impossible task, and whether we can achieve it or not remains to be seen,” he told the Herald Sun, adding they had no way of pushing the deadline.
He blamed the delays on production setbacks, revealing that one contestant contracted COVID-19 during filming, and another team quit just a few days into production (He’s talking about Elle and Joel).
Apparently, there was also a shortage of tradies, so it took longer than usual to finish the builds.
The construction company, Nine in Six, which helps out the contestants on The Block, issued a callout on Instagram.
“We desperately need help completing the current series of The Block: Tree Change. Carpenters, Cladding Crews, Skilled labourers, Trade Assistants [sic],” the company wrote.
Anyway, after ALL of that, The Block: Tree Change will air on August 7, on Channel 9 and 9Now.
