The New Trailer For Australian Survivor Just Dropped and We’re Personally Hyperventilating

If you’re a Survivor fan, you’ll know better than anyone how LONG the wait for the show’s return has been. Since the original US version of the iconic reality series premiered all the way back in 2000, we’ve had at least two seasons a year, and the addition of network 10’s Australian Survivor in 2016 only made things better.

The last season of Australian Survivor: All Stars was the best one yet. With David Genat — aka The Golden God — playing an absolutely diabolical game, we were on the edge of our seats for three nights a week throughout the entire season.

Remember when Dave and Mat Rogers — aka The Godfather — teamed up for that absolutely BANANAS Tribal Council that ended with Daisy Richardson getting her torch snuffed? Ugh, it was so good.

And then? Nothing. After COVID hit, we had no more Survivor for the rest of 2020, and it has been a LONG wait, until now.

Network 10 announced the imminent return of the beloved series a few weeks ago, and fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for the trailer to drop ever since.

Friends, that day is finally here!

Serving up Mad Max aesthetics and the high drama we’ve come to expect from the season trailers (remember how iconic the “I’m Still Standing” trailer was???), the new trailer for Australian Survivor: Brains Vs. Brawn does NOT disappoint.

Set to a cover of the Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive”, the trailer shows just how different a season filmed in Conclurry, Queensland will be from the tropical environments we’ve seen over the past few seasons.

Gone are the crystal clear waters and beautiful palm trees, this season promises “scorching days” and “freezing nights”, according to host Jonathan LaPaglia, adding that the players “will have to survive in one of the most dangerous locations on the planet”.

“This year, two tribes will answer the age-old question: Brains, or Brawn,” JLP says in the trailer, as we’re introduced to the first batch of Brains Vs. Brawn contestants.

“You’ve gotta be willing to pull people’s strings… that’s what I’ll be doing on Survivor,” says Brains tribe member George, who describes himself as a “faceless man in the Labor Party”.

Next, we meet prison guard Dani, who works in a men’s maximum-security prison.

“I work with the worst of the worst,” says Dani, adding, “I deal with manipulation every single day.”

Our final Brains contender is Wai, an award-winning author. Her game is going to be all about strategy.

“I’m going to be a very resilient player,” she says. “I’m going to make the best strategic decision in any given moment.”

Meanwhile, the Brawn tribe will also be serving up some huge threats, like AFL legend Gavin Wanganeen.

“I’ve made my mark on football, and I’d love to be able to make my mark on Survivor” says the Brownlow medalist.

We also have Flick, the big wave surfer who, in 2015, rode the biggest wave ever ridden by a female Australian surfer and is ranked number two in the world.

“I know where my strengths lie,” she asserts.

Finally, we meet personal trainer Daini, and from the sounds of it, we can expect some hectic gameplay from him.

“I’ve got a big mouth, I’ve got opinions,” he says. “I ain’t got no problems with burning a bridge if I need to.”

Basically? We can’t wait.
