We didn’t have high hopes for “Married At First Sight’s” Caitlin and Shannon, TBH. And our concerns seem to be right, as it’s been revealed that Shannon has already gotten back with his ex-girlfriend even as we watch his relationship with Caitlin crash and burn on national TV.
Daily Mail Australia was first to break the the news that Shannon is back with his ex Jamea Drake. The publication reported that “the pair kept in touch during filming last year and once he was back in his hometown of Cairns in December, they decided to give their relationship another go.”
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who’s been watching the show.
Shannon recently admitted that he’s still in love with his ex. We know, right? Why would you go on a dating show if you still have feelings for an old flame?
Caitlin was left reeling after she overheard her ‘husband’ having an “emotional phone call” with his ex-fiancée.
When she confronted Shannon about the call, Shannon admitted that he was “still thinking” about his ex. “I hate the fact that I say this, but I still love her,” he confessed. “I just feel like I’m leading two people on.”

His ex gets mentioned again at the second dinner party when Lyndall reveals that she and Claire saw Shannon with a mystery woman and child on the weekend, who they believe to be his ex and daughter.
Claire is quick to address the issue at the dinner table, straight up asking the groom who he was with. Shannon is quick to deflect, saying that he was with his cousin and her child.
“He’s not really being aware of the fact that, only a week ago, he’s gone on a couch and said ‘I’m in love with my ex’, so it’s understandable for people to assume that the woman he was spotted with would be his ex,” expert John Aiken says. “He’s clearly showing a lack of awareness to the situation.”
Claire is also left feeling unconvinced, admitting: “This is a tricky one, I have found Shannon’s response a little hard to swallow. Innocent until proven guilty, they say.”
Since Shannon’s ex is such a talking point in his on-screen relationship, we’ve done some digging to find out more details about Jamea Drake.
Who Is MAFS’ Shannon’s Ex-Girlfriend?
Jamea Drake is not only Shannon’s ex, she’s also the mother of his four-year-old daughter. The pair were together for seven years, but Shannon told Caitlin the relationship was “toxic” and “on-and-off”.
According to Daily Mail Australia, sources close to the couple say they never really got over each other and always kept in touch, even during times when they weren’t together.
“I think Shannon tried to get over Jamea by going on MAFS, but he had second thoughts as soon as he married Caitlin,” one told the publication. “He was upset after the wedding and wanted out right away.”
“Shan and Jamea kept in contact for the sake of Milli [their daughter] and he would try to Facetime her every day,” the source added.
