When Two Worlds Collide! Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston are Set to Judge My Kitchen Rules
My Kitchen Rules is really bringing the heat this year, with a number of celebrity chefs lined up to appear on the show.
We already have Manu Feildel and Nigella Lawson at one end of the dinner table, and joining them will be former MasterChef Australia judges, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan, and TV veterans, Curtis Stone and Colin Fassnidge.
Preston and Mehigan were judges on Channel 10’s MasterChef Australia from season one all the way to season 11.
Their journey came to an end, however, after the network replaced them, along with fellow judge, George Calombaris, with Melissa Leong, Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo.
Preston and Mehigan then took on a new venture, appearing on Channel 7’s Plate of Origin in 2020 alongside Feildel.
Sadly, the show didn’t manage to capture viewers the way the network thought it would, and it was cancelled after one season.
Fassnidge, on the other hand, competed on the 2021 season of Channel 10’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, and placed fifth.
My Kitchen Rules has returned to screens after a two-year hiatus, and with a brand new look. No longer is it just about the drama, but rather, the priority is given to the food.
Another notable change is that former judge Pete Evans was replaced by Lawson after a string of controversial posts resulted in the network not renewing his contract.
Preston said in a trailer for MKR he’s looking for unpretentious cooking.
“Don’t show off,” he said. “Bring us the food you cook at home that your friends and family love. Also, your instant restaurant is not a place for first-time experimentation. Minimise your risks.”
