The holidays are right around the corner and of course, ’tis the season to listen to all of your favourite Christmas songs on repeat. Whether you prefer listening to your favourite tunes while wrapping presents, or have it playing all day long to really get yourself in the holiday spirit, festive music is usually on everyone’s playlist during this time of the year.
Home Essentials did some research and found out each country’s most searched for holiday song, and upon learning the findings, we’re left quite surprised.
Whenever December rolls around Mariah Carey comes out of hiding with her smash hit single All I Want for Christmas is You. And despite hearing it everywhere, it’s shockingly not the top searched for in the US or the UK.
So what Christmas jingle are people listening to?
Surprisingly, Last Christmas by Wham! has taken the top spot in three countries: Germany, South Africa and the UK.
Feliz Navidad was a close second, being the most searched in the United States and Spain. While Mariah didn’t win this battle, she was the most searched song in France and Australia.

- Australia: “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey at 106,900 searches
