Zava on “Ted Lasso” Is Married to Ms. Casey From “Severance” In Real Life
Maximilian Osinski makes a big splash in season three of “Ted Lasso” as Zava, a soccer superstar with a big ego – but maybe a big heart to match. AFC Richmond brings him in to try to keep the team from getting relegated – and to one-up West Ham, owned by the villainous Rupert (Anthony Head) and coached by Nate (Nick Mohammed). But what fans might not know is that Osinski is married to an actor who’s making splashes on an Apple TV+ series of her own: Dichen Lachman who plays Ms. Casey on the hit series “Severance.” On “Severance,” Lachman’s Ms. Casey is a mysterious employee at Lumon Industries, who, fans learn in the season finale, is tied to a deep secret the company is keeping from Mark S (Adam Scott).
Osinski and Lachman married in 2015 and share a daughter born that same year. Both have been working actors for a long time. Lachman, who’s Nepali Australian, has appeared on the hit Australian soap “Neighbours;” in the short-lived but cult favorite series “Dollhouse;” and in Netflix’s “Altered Carbon.” Last year she appeared in “Jurassic World Dominion” and she’s set for 2024’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.” Both Osinski, who was born in Austria, and Lachman appeared on ABC’S “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Osinski joked about he and his wife both finding success in major TV shows on Apple TV+ in a March 29 interview with Vanity Fair. “It’s pretty crazy,” he said. “When I got ‘Ted Lasso,’ we knew what it was. When she got ‘Severance,’ we knew that the pedigree of people involved was amazing, but you never know what’ll hit.” “Severance”‘s creative team includes Ben Stiller, and the cast includes Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, and Christopher Walken.
But Osinski knew “Severance” was going to be huge when his coworkers were talking about the show without even knowing his wife was on it. ‘We’d bump into each other at some of these awards events and everyone’s like, ‘Oh my god, “Severance,” ‘ and I’m like, ‘Hey, we work together, don’t forget about me!'” he told the outlet. “It’s so nice to see people enjoying her work. Thank you, Apple!”
Osinski also told Vanity Fair that when he found out he landed the part of Zava, he was out at dinner with Lachman, their daughter, and his in-laws. He left the table to take the call, then came back to tell everyone the good news. “Dichen starts crying,” he said. “A little too hard. Like, was it that bad? Was I that desperate for a job?”
Osinski has also helped Lachman with her work on “Severance.” In an April 2022 interview with Slash Film, Lachman revealed that a pivotal photo of her character that’s featured in the “Severance” finale was actually taken by her husband. She explained, “My husband took the photo while we were in L.A. and I had this horrible wig, which was a test wig, and I just shoved a hat on and I was like, ‘Oh, maybe this will work,’ because we were working under extraordinary circumstances,” she said. “But the photo worked out really well.”
