“Selling Sunset”‘s Jason Oppenheim Says His Ex-Girlfriends Are the “Closest Friends” in His Life
Netflix’s “Selling Sunset” is nominally a real estate show, but it’s really more about the drama between the realtors at the Oppenheim Group than it is about luxury houses. In season six of the reality show, which premiered on May 19, there’s one man at the center of a lot of that drama, even if he’s rarely on screen: Jason Oppenheim. Oppenheim is the president and founder of the Oppenheim Group, and he acts as the big boss during episodes of “Selling Sunset.” But in season six, major drama involves three women he previously dated: Nicole Young, Mary Fitzgerald, and Chrishell Stause. Meanwhile, Oppenheim is happily jet-setting with his girlfriend, Marie-Lou Nürk, for most of the season.
Oppenheim, 46, was born and raised in California. He was a lawyer before he turned his focus to real estate, in 2010. Oppenheim is famously close to his exes, telling Tudum in 2022, “My ex-girlfriends are my closest friends in my life. Chrishell is certainly included in that too. Like Mary, I love her and I have so much respect for her.” He added that he thinks going from lovers to friends is natural because the love you feel for someone doesn’t go away after a breakup. “At some point, you get over the breakup and then you’re left with the friendship and the love that you had in a relationship,” he said.
In the same article, Fitzgerald called Oppenheim “the most loyal guy I think I’ve ever met.” “[Some] people truly deserve to be fired, [but] he has such a big heart. I don’t think that comes across as much on the show because he’s a boss. But he’s the most generous and loving person,” she added.
Here’s what we know about Oppenheim’s past relationships – and his current relationship with Nürk.
Nicole Young
In season seven, viewers learn that Oppenheim previously dated one of his employees, Young. Though Young, 37, only joined the cast of “Selling Sunset” in season six, she’s worked at the Oppenheim Group for 10 years. Neither of them has reflected publicly about their romantic partnership, including how long or when they were together or why they split. But their relationship remains friendly, and Young is good friends with Fitzgerald, too.
“I met [Jason] the very first year he was in real estate,” Young told People on May 16. “I’ve always been very interested in real estate and just fascinated by it, so I just took the opportunity to shadow him whenever I could.” She also told the outlet that she was supposed to be part of the season-one cast but backed out at the last minute.
The realtor married her husband, Brandon Young, in 2017, and she told People that he pushed her to ultimately join the show. “He’s always supportive,” she told the outlet.
Mary Fitzgerald
Oppenheim and Fitzgerald, 43, dated some time before “Selling Sunset” began filming. In season one, Oppenheim said the pair dated about “six months to a year.” “Yeah, we had a lingering kind of period. We lived together,” Fitzgerald added. They also share two dogs, Zelda and Niko, who they actually adopted after their split.
In that same episode, Oppenheim said that he was more to blame for their split and that they’re “much closer” post-breakup than they were when they dated. Per Fitzgerald’s LinkedIn, she started working at the Oppenheim Group in 2014. She has also shared that she and Oppenheim have been friends for about 15 years.
Fitzgerald married Romain Bonnet, who appears on the show, in a civil ceremony, in 2018. They had their big wedding in October 2019.
Chrishell Stause
Stause, 41, joined the Oppenheim Group in 2018 (but had her real estate license for years before then). At the time, she was married to “This Is Us” star Justin Hartley. Hartley filed for divorce in November 2021, and Stause claimed she was blindsided by his decision. Their divorce was finalized in 2021.
Oppenheim revealed his feelings for Stause in April 2021 at “Selling Sunset“‘s Heather Rae El Moussa’s engagement party, and they began dating soon after. They went public with their romance that July, causing a fair bit of conflict in the Oppenheim Group office.
Stause and Oppenheim eventually split in December 2021 because she wanted kids and he didn’t. Stause is now married to musician G Flip.

Marie-Lou Nürk
Nürk, 25, and Oppenheim met after he split from Stause and were first linked in July 2022 when they vacationed in Greece (which is coincidentally where he and Stause first went public with their romance). Nürk is from the south of Germany but lives in Paris. According to her Instagram, she is signed as a model to the Marilyn Agency.
“I liked that she hadn’t seen the show, so she didn’t really know who I was or about my relationship with Chrishell,” he told People in August 2022. Nürk appears in the sixth season of “Selling Sunset” alongside her boyfriend, who seems to constantly go back and forth between the US and Europe with her.
