Girls5Eva, the super fun series starring Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, and Busy Philipps, has been renewed for a second season, which means that we have plenty more catchy pop tunes to look forward to.
The comedy centres around a one-hit-wonder ’90s girl band who experience a revival after being sampled by a young rapper. The unexpected attention inspires the women to reunite and give their popstar dreams one more shot.
The first season received mostly positive reviews, with Inkoo Kang of The Hollywood Reporter praising the show for, “brimming with so many cutaways, parodic music videos and densely packed jokes you’re almost afraid to laugh lest you miss a half-second gag.”
Kang also noted that the comedy “hits just the right note between nostalgia and side eye for late 90s” while serving up “plenty of heart” alongside its plethora of jokes.
