The Trailer for the Friends Reunion Has Us Sobbing So Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You
Maybe it’s because we’ve waited so long for the Friends Reunion to finally happen, or maybe it is simply a testament to how much the original series resonated, and continues to resonate, with us — but the trailer for the long-awaited special had us crying within seconds.
The reunion, which will air on HBO Max in the US on May 27, sees the entire Friends cast return to comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros Studio lot in Burbank for a real-life unscripted celebration of the beloved show.
In a newly released trailer for the special, the cast can be seen coming back to the sound stage where they filmed the iconic series and, suffice to say, things get emotional as they reminisce about their time together and what it was like to say goodbye.
The team also sit down for some table reads as they revisit classic episodes such as The One Where Everyone Finds Out. Judging by the two-minute sizzle, we’d recommend having tissues at the ready when you watch the reunion — you’ve been warned!
Meanwhile, if you’ve ever wondered what Joey, Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel and Phoebe would be up to these days, the cast had some thoughts on how life may have panned out for the six best friends.
According to Courtney Cox, Monica would still be an over-achiever, with the actress saying, “I always just feel like Monica would be doing something competitively with other mothers and trying to outdo them.”
“Whether it’s the bake sale at school or something. I mean, she’d be so annoying. She’d be at the head of the PTA or something.”
As for her TV husband Chandler, Matthew Perry thinks that he would be both a wonderful father and comedy writer, while Matt LeBlanc theorised that Joey would have opened a chain of sandwich shops, and probably eaten all of his profits.
For Phoebe, life would have taken her and her husband Mike (Paul Rudd) out of New York City with Lisa Kudrow musing, that her character “is living in Connecticut with Mike and their kids, and she’s in charge of the arts program for the school.
“And just … the advocate for her kids because they’re different like she was.”
For Jennifer Aniston, whose character Rachel Green evolved from pampered princess to struggling waitress to fashion industry executive, she believes Green would have started her own clothing line. “It’s sort of a small franchise,” Aniston said. “Like a Nili Lotan. And I live in New York City on the Upper East Side.”
As for Ross, David Schwimmer predicted that he would still be “playing with bones” as a paleontologist and “would’ve invested in Joey’s sandwich shop and lost a lot of his savings for his kids.”
The Friends Reunion will feature special guests from the original series such as Reese Witherspoon and Tom Selleck along with celebrity fans such as Justin Bieber, BTS, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne and Lady Gaga.
