Adriana Accuses Big Brother of Being Rigged and “Saving Who He Wants to Save” in Challenges
If you watched last night’s Big Brother Australia and wondered how Sarah Jane “SJ” Adams managed to get all her blocks in place so easily while Adriana Fernandez was left struggling to even get the base level done, you’re not the only one.
Speaking to POPSUGAR Australia, Adriana revealed a few behind-the-scenes details of that challenge that she found suspicious.
Adriana explained that with other challenges, the place that contestants would be in was drawn at random, but in this instance, they were assigned positions.
“It’s funny because normally we’d get a ball and pick a number, but this challenge it was given to us, one, two, three, and I thought ‘Hmm all right’,” she began.
Once the challenge got going, Adriana’s suspicions rose as she saw SJ doing “extremely well”.
“Every time I picked up a block it just didn’t match,” she recalled, adding: “I couldn’t believe how quickly SJ put her wording together.”
“That was my worst challenge!” she continued. “I felt that my wording was jumbled everywhere. I might be wrong, I don’t know, but my wording was jumbled everywhere, I couldn’t put the pieces together. Were my words jumbled a little bit more than others? I don’t know.”
Calling it “frustrating” and “exhausting” on a very hot day, she added: “My thing is, why did I get chosen number three? Why did we not pick a ball out of a bucket? At the end of the day it is what it is.”
After so many twists and turns, Adriana told us that she felt “over it” because “the producers had an outcome in their minds of who they wanted to see at the end of the show”.
“Like, how many chances can one person get?” she said. “It was becoming like, ‘are you serious, another second chance?’, you know?”
In fact, she was so over it that she began to wonder if, had she won the challenge, Big Brother would “have given that other person a third chance”.
Although Adriana didn’t explicitly say that she was referring to SJ, she did say that the biggest shock in the house was when SJ and Mary got to skip elimination by going up to the attic.
“It was like ‘Come on guys, seriously,'” she said, adding: “That made me realise ‘Oh, he’s saving who he wants to save’ and that was the biggest shock.”
Still, Adriana is immensely proud of her time on the show and to have been the last intruder standing in the game.
“Going into the house being an older woman and competing with these young ones was bloody hard, but knowing that I was the last intruder standing, it felt so good,” she said.
Calling it a “huge achievement”, Adriana said that she was “there to make [her] sons proud” and they were, so she was proud of herself.
As for her eviction from the house, Adriana was more surprised to hear that she was nominated than she was to actually be evicted.
Noting that “they wanted Christina out a long time ago”, Adriana went on to say that after Danny had blindsided her the week before with Ari’s eviction, she knew Danny would be out to get her also.
“I knew he was gonna have it in for me and he was gonna try to get me out, because he knew that I was going to come after him,” she explained.
Although she’d believed that everyone wanted Christina out more than her, it was when Sid told her that he’d changed his vote to her that she knew it was over.
“In my head, I thought ‘You know what Adriana, I could fight, I can put my pitch out there but their minds are made up’,” she said.
Adriana went on to say that although she “wasn’t ready to leave”, she had also “thought that being an intruder, they were going to save the one who had been there from the beginning, and that was Christina”.
There’s no bad blood between Adriana and Christina, though. In fact, Adriana is rooting for Christina to take home the win, calling her the best player in the house.
“I’ll tell you why, it’s because she’s had that many bullets pointed at her and she’s had to fight her way to where she is,” Adriana explained. “She didn’t have any second chances whatsoever… she did on her own without any extra bonuses coming her way.
“I’m hoping Christina wins, I’m hoping Australia sees Christina as a player that has fought on her own without those extra bonuses,” she finished.
Big Brother Australia continues tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7 Mate.
