Amy Reeves Has What It Takes to Win the “Australian Idol” Crown
Every season of “Australian Idol” has a surprise big hitter. Someone who starts off good but then goes on to become a legend. Someone who gets better and better every episode. In “Australian Idol” 2024, this person is Amy Reeves.
While Amy’s audition of “A Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin was incredible, it was only a preview of what was in store. In the Top 12, Amy belted Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man” into the history books. Likewise, her Top 10 rendition of Jessica Mauboy’s “Can I Get a Moment” gave us a cover that we’ll never forget.
According to Amy, creating such a stellar cover wasn’t easy. In a 2024 interview, she unpacked the feelings that propelled her performance.
“I definitely felt some pressure going into this performance,” Amy said. “Jessica Mauboy is such an icon, and I didn’t want to let her down.”
Since becoming an icon, Amy has gone on to secure a position in 2024’s “Australian Idol” finale. Here is everything we know about this up-and-coming singer.
Who is the “Australian Idol” Superstar Amy Reeves?
Before heading on “Australian Idol”, the 25-year-old Amy Reeves worked at a skincare boutique in Broome, Western Australia. In her later teens, she became addicted to singing. This artform helps Amy feel closer to her father, who tragically passed away.
“He championed me,” Amy said. “Sadly, he passed away when I was 15. I know he’s always with me. I can feel his presence when I am singing.”
What’s more, Amy is also singing to inspire other regional kids. She wants to help give them the courage to follow their dreams.
“I want to set an example for other kids who grew up in rural areas, especially the Kimberley,” Amy said. “I want them to look at me and see themselves. If I can have a positive influence like that, I would be happy and very proud.”
