This Aussie Acne Skincare Brand Is Changing Lives — Including These 4 Women Who Have Long Suffered With Acne
There’s a good chance you’ve seen tbh Skincare doing the rounds on social media. If you’re not familiar with the Australian skincare company, it launched in March 2020 to help address the rising number of cases of persistent acne amongst adults.
Co-founded by 24-year-old acne sufferer, Rachael Tyers, tbh Skincare has created a new and scientifically proven method for treating acne that works for ridding your skin of breakout causing bacteria. The tbh cream is formulated with XBIO technology, which facilitates the destruction of the extracellar matrix that protects biofilm — where all of the breakout causing bacteria in your skin live.
“The majority of the commercially available products only deal with the symptoms of acne outbreaks and don’t deal with the underlying issue of biofilm,” Dr Matthew Myntti, founder and Chief Technology Officer of Next Science, responsible for developing the patented formulation, told POPSUGAR Australia.
“Our technology physically breaks down the protective biofilm layer to expose the acne bacteria. Once the bacteria are exposed and enveloped in our solution it makes them more vulnerable to attack.”
While the science behind the skincare is *incredibly* important, it’s not as awe inspiring as first-hand accounts from people who have used tbh Skincare and experienced life-changing results. Here are their stories:
Jaimee — Before
“I found tbh after seeing promos for it on Instagram through a couple of people I follow,” Jaimee said. “Tbh’s Instagram is also full of enviable before and after shots and I was really struggling with my skin.. so I bought the OG bundle and have honestly never looked back.
“It genuinely took only one week to start seeing results. There were fewer spots and the redness and painful jaw spots had already started to fade. By week two, I wasn’t having many new breakouts and was able to focus on the old spots. By weeks three and four, I had no painful jaw spots and was only dealing with PPE/ mask related acne!”
Jaimee — After
“Tbh keeps my skin at a bearable level and makes it easier to manage the hormonal and mask acne that comes with a stressful job in healthcare! I’ve been through a few bundles so far and I don’t plan to stop any time soon!”
Minnie — Before
“I love supporting Australian businesses and I was actually introduced to the brand @tbhskincare_ by @chloeelisebeauty when I was venting about my hormonal acne,” Minnie wrote on Instagram. “I did a deep dive on the ingredients list and was intrigued because there was no benzoyl peroxide (I’m allergic). I saw that there was the acne bundle (cleanser, brush and acne hack cream: see next photo) and I decided to order it as I was already on the market for a face brush. Was a total steal of a price.”
Minnie — After
Along with her experience with the products, Minnie also included advice on using them yourself.
“Acne hack cream; I apply this nightly to clean dry skin in areas of my face that break out (cheeks, chin and forehead) and I don’t apply it anywhere I don’t! I use this as an acne prone area treatment and it’s helped clear my skin right up. I was a bit cautious as there is a high level of Isopropyl Alcohol but I AM A BELIEVER! So many spot treatments have it in (eg: Mario badescu spot treatment) and it’s an essential ingredient for this formula. It’s not harsh and hasn’t dried out my skin at all. The formula soaks into the skin and any alcohol feels like it evaporates after application. The main reasons I LOVE this is 1) it works on my hormonal cystic acne and 2) it stops my acne from “filling back up” yes that’s gross I know but it’s true. It’s a problem I’ve faced with many treatments that couldn’t penetrate into the spot. This does that. It’s amazing. If you have any questions please let me know because I’m passionate about it. I would reach for this over the retinol I’ve used for months on end to only slightly improve my skin- see last photo in slides to see before I started my acne journey to the second last photo which was taken today.
“Cleanser; it’s a very similar texture to the simple moisturising cleanser and can be worked in to foam up if need be (when using the brush especially) it’s not harsh or stripping on the skin and I can tell lots of thought went into the formulation for how it feels and works.
“Cleansing brush; lovely, not too stiff or hash on the skin. I’ve enjoyed using it in the PM.”
Annie — Before
“I found it on an Instagram ad,” said Annie. “It took two weeks and it has changed my skin unbelievably as I thought I never thought I would get something like this and I’m just so grateful to have such nice smooth and acne free skin!”
Nicole — Before & After
“I tried so many products and medications to clear it up and nothing worked – until I found @tbhskincare_” Nicole wrote on Instagram.
“They kindly gifted me their Acne Hack Cleanser and Acne Face Hack Cream. I cannot believe the difference in my skin and I cannot thank @tbhskincare_ enough. I’m so happy to support a great friendly team who understand the effects acne have physically, emotionally and mentally. The Acne Hack Cleanser is a great gentle cleanser but the Acne Hack Face Cream is the real game changer!!”
