Sarah Hyland “Was Bored and Wanted a Change” – So She Got a Bixie Haircut

Unlike the curtain bangs club, there are still very few celebrity members of the bixie haircut club, but at least now they have Sarah Hyland among them. At the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, Hyland debuted a super-short new hairstyle, which is quite the departure from her previous shoulder-length look.

Celebrity hairstylist Nikki Lee gave Hyland the big chop. “She was bored and wanted a change. . . something we’ve never done before, so we went short and added a full bang. It’s our take on the ‘bixie,'” Lee said in a statement to POPSUGAR. On Instagram, Hyland posted a selfie of her new look and captioned it, “Bob-idi-Bob-da-BANG-da-Bang Bang,” which fiancé Wells Adams came up with, according to his comment asking for “Caption credit please.”

Lee joked on her Instagram, “Who knew I cut bobs and bangs?!” since most of her clients in LA have long hair. “It’s been exciting for my girls to want these changes lately,” she said. The bixie is predicted to be one of this season’s biggest haircut trends and so far, that’s tracking. “It’s shorter than a bob, longer than a pixie, and with the hair off the neck and midface,” April Peele, a hairstylist at Salon SCK in New York City, previously told POPSUGAR. It’s less maintenance than a pixie haircut and allows more room for styling.
